Anyone else have this issue?

This past weekend I was shooting an event with my Nikon D500 and 200-500mm lens. After a few hours of using it, thin black vertical lines started showing up on the photos. And this was after having lunch. So it wasn't constant use. I tried everything I could think of to narrow down the problem. Both the QXD card and SD card were showing the same results. I tried RAW vs Jpeg. Removed the lens and stuck it back on. Changed from shutter priority to other modes. I stuck in the car and went to my back up body. I went back to the car later and stuck the lens back on the D500 and fired off a few shots to see if the issue had gone away. Sure enough, it was fine. I used this combo the next day with no issues. I've used this combo for almost a year now and have never seen this before. My 4 previous Nikon bodies never had this issue either.

Attached is one of the shots.

I've never seen that before. I'll be curious to find out what it is.

Strange...the lines are only there if you download the picture. I have no idea what’s the problem.

Although I've never had this happen to me with my D500 and 200-500, I'm guessing it may have had something to do with lunch. But seriously, as others have suggested, contact Nikon.

Yeah, they're there. It's just more noticeable in download.

Ha! I will probably do that. Just wanted to find out if anyone else has had the issue before I spend money to ship it off for repair.

Your lens is wide open. You are on multi-area focus. Did you try anything but wide open? or try spot focus? or adjust both together? It might just have been a sensor aberration now gone away? Low battery?

I agree with elmerviking I cannot see the lines except on download. I think I know what the problem is. It is the skeleton pilot telling you he cant take off without his propeller.

Was there anything in the area causing electrical interference? That looks like a radio controlled airplane in the photo. Was the RC controller close to the camera? I can definitely see the lines when I downloaded the photo.

The camera may have some problem with reading the data off the sensor also. I have a D500 but I've never seen that problem.

RFI?

EMI from high voltage transmission lines?

Camera processor error fixed by rebooting after lengthy shutdown?

Yes, call Nikon and share this image with them.
