Please remove all evidence of the fence in #1. If that's too easy, remove the angled foreground pole in #2.

Re-post your edit, and explain your steps and software used. Many thanks for your participation in this exercise!

With Pic #1 - I would just crop the fence out. It looks prettty good when cropped.

Yeah, that's what I would do, although I tend to be lazy with that editing stuff, look for the fastest way actually. Would also crop the pole out of #2.

By the way Linda, I like both images. In fact, I like #1 with the fence in it better than without.

Photoshop CC 20.0.2. First image: Select most of the lower left corner, Edit > Fill > Content Aware. Second image, the same but in multiple sections. The sky might improve a little with some manual work. Recent upgrades to the Photoshop in the CC plan have beefed up the "Content Aware Fill" to make the CC subscription worth it for this function alone.

That's exciting to know there's an improved tool that you are enjoying. There are breaks in some of the wires in your work in #2, so a little more care is needed for those details and clouds/sky as you suggested.

Many thanks for your participation, Bill!

First attempt was to "demo" the nearly automatic stuff. Here is the automatic content aware fill version with some (quick!) more manual clone stamping.

Long live the fun of making fake pictures!

The tools in the newest version of Photshop CC make taking things out incredibly easy. My goal needs to be learning how to put things into a photo! Is it called "compositing"?

Is compositing a widely accepted term? I'm sure folks on UHH would know what you mean. Non-photographers might be better with "photoshopped"

This is not what you asked for but, sometimes cloning is not the best solution. Both of the pictures have simply been distorted (stretched) to eliminate the objectionable elements. Total time in PS, 2 minutes for both. Cloning would have taken at least 10 times as long and I doubt the results would have been as good.

The thread was to offer practice in cloning, but a wider discussion that includes stretching is valuable for a different reason. With #2 the aspect of all appears quite similar and acceptable to me as the photographer. With Mount Hood - a well known and much photographed volcano, you have changed its shape, so some may feel there's something "wrong," even if they're not sure what.

But you've offered an excellent tool and solution for many situations (see an example R.G. did with one of my photos below). Many thanks for your time!
