I try to photograph wildlife as often as I can. I have a Nikon D500 and a Nikon 200-500 and use a 128GB card. I "spray and pray" for all action shots, i.e., birds in flight. Of course, not for the standing still shots. Oftentimes an animal will have an odd look on their face, will turn their face away, or a bird will have their face covered so the "spray and pray" approach helps to get a decent shot. Each shot can sometimes be slightly different, for example, a fox that I photographed sitting in the grass (and he was holding still) which I photographed multiple shots of and only some of the shots had the drop of water at the end of his tongue (recently sold one of those shots). Don't let people make you feel "less than" for taking multiple shots of animals. You'll get the shot that they won't and getting the shot is what it's about for me. See the example, which would be very difficult to get with one shot.

My Canon 80D shoots 7 FPS. I do some "spray and pray" at the sports car races. I shot about 11,000 photos in two days at the Rolex Historics at Laguna Seca last August. I was only shooting JPEGs at about 10MB/photo. I'm going to the IndyCar test there on Friday and am now shooting RAW+JPEG. I have more memory cards now.
