AzPicLady, thank you for loving the photos. You say you love the "big water"........well, as you know everything is "relative"........I'm attaching a photo of what I consider "big water" which may be different than what you consider "big water".

Excellent work as usual Brent. As others have said, the last shot puts the day in nice perspective.

Thanks for including the tow-in shot. I'm still mystified by the mindset behind this class of surfing! Tow-in Teahupoo video is the gnarliest stuff I've ever seen.

I'm an old school, island style, Middle American Trench, "3 metre barrels is as good as it gets!" kind of guy. lol

I absolutely love those photographs!

It reminds me of my youth when several of us high school kids made surfboards, circa 1970, read surf magazines and attempted to actually use those home-made surfboards on the Texas Gulf Coast. The popular beaches in the day were: Surfside, Quintana, Bryan and Freeport. None had waves with good form, but we had fun anyway.

Thanks for the memories!

Jason

You show the physical beauty and athleticism of the professional athlete and the balance, body control and lines of a ballet dancer. I love your work.

Yeah Texcaster, the tow in shot is totally insane. I think everyone including the pros would say that you life would be in jeopardy dropping in on one of those.
The last three shots are not photos of the pros, but the rest are. I'm glad Texcaster you could appreciate these photos the way you do.

Jason, if you had fun, then you went away a winner. I remember in my youth when our group of surfing friends surfed little ankle biter sized waves and had fun along with laughs......the size or shape doesn't really matter as long as you have fun.
Glad to trigger some fond memories that you have stored in your mind Jason.

Why thank you 10MPlayer for loving my work the way you do. I have to say that the last three photos were NOT of the pros, but am happy that some of my UHH friends enjoy them the way they do.

JoAnne, I thank you and Mahalo for really getting into this series. Since you are from Hawaii, you know surfers! The lens is my new favorite:
Canon100-400L SeriesII. It's awesome and you can also use it for a portrait lens and have bokesh going on from 3' on.

I remember awhile back when you were considering getting this lens. I dare say that you have become the poster boy of its virtues - these are AWESOME!

raymondh, In my surfing photography quest I started off with a Sigma 150-500, sold that one an bought a Tamron 150-600, sold that one and got my current lens, the Canon 100-400L SERIES II. The extra price is worth it for the amazing photos that I get with it.
Thanks raymondh for the poster boy of its virtues! lol

One thing I have found out over the years of photographing surfers is that the pros SHRED! They surf far better than the average recreational surfer and it reflects in the photos by the amazing rooster tails they throw in their radical turns. These are much better viewed in download mode.

Fantastic series Brent. I especially like the third one, but they are all great.
