Cute shot Jerry. I have tried several "squirrel-proof" feeders. No such thing. I gave up and just enjoy their antics.

I found that if I hang them from the floor of the play house/fort on top of the old swing set far enough in from the edge that the squirrels can't reach them they will go after easier food.

Jerry, great photo of this female squirrel. You sure did capture great detail.

An added comment, I wish I could find a feeder that is truely capable of keeping the squirrels out of the bird food.

Try red peppered bird seed. It works. Birds don't care. Squirrels care and avoid it.

Oh, maybe not a good idea for me, I am a "Chili Head" and then in addition to the peanuts I buy for the birds I might start picking the sunflower seeds out of the bird food and eating some of them.

Really nice. I need to show my wife, she's a squirrel fan.

I don't think she'd notice the increase. It's like doing morning chores on a farm now.

OK, these Southern California squirrels would probably drop dead of a heart attack when you let them out of the box in a Michigan winter anyway.

I actually have an older female and her litter from last year plus any young from this year living in trees in my area, they come after my bird food, sometimes the water in the bird baths and use the fences (and the overhead power wire) for commuting around the neighborhood. I have counted 5 plus one I could hear in the tree next door at one time.
