I live in New Mexico, which usually has very clear skies. We did not get a very good "blood" color here either. An astronomy enthusiast told me that there was enough of a cloud cover that it obscured the blood red color. There was enough a cloud cover that we could not see the stars. We could at best make out a vague copper color.

This moon shot is nice and clear, but exposed for the highlights. I can see color tinge in the shadows. I brought your image into PS CC, and increased exposure in shadows, and added saturation. You did in fact capture the blood color. Try this on your RAW file, you may be surprised.

I used 2 stop bracket on my shots, so when you see the color you completely blow out the highlites, but HDR brings most of it it back.

Thanks Cliff. I will work on it. I used a variation of the sunny 16 rule for the exposure. I shot at 1/320 sec, f/8, at ISO 200. which is where my usual moon shots are taken.
