I'm out toward Katy, (Bear Creek area) lots of light pollution here.
I thought the conditions were about as good as I can ever expect for my location.

Ok, I didn't get to Galveston Island last night, but managed to get this last night in humid skies. I used a 60D and Tamron 150-600 G2 lens on a lightweight tripod, but managed to get lucky.

I was shooting with that lens and had a devil of a time getting images I approve of. You seem to be doing quite well!
