Eported out of LR4.1 Finially found a way to do it! You can make the signature watermark any color you want.

Here is how it is done:

He explains how to do it in Photoshop but I did it using Elements. I am pretty sure other programs will work.

I wonder what would happen if you were to sign your name on the glass of a scanner (not with a permanent marker) or even on a clear piece of acetate, a clear mailing label maybe...scan it, not sure if it would create it's own background, I don't have a scanner at where I'm at the moment. It still needs to be a PNG file which supports transparencies, where JPG does not. This is probably off the deep end, and BTW...we aren't the only ones trying to concur this.

I thought of that, but decided it might take the scanner cover and if left up not do well. May give it a try. I went back to the program you suggested and signed my name free hand with their paint brush and it came out pretty well. The only problem seemed to be a light grey outline around the letter, but with care and time I was able to erase the outline. I had to leave for work so I'm not sure how well it will down load, will let you know later.

Thought I had too. Been playing with way too many things and got myself confused. Even after reading that description a half dozen times I kept messing up! I got the black fairly easy but could not get the white! Finially walked away for a while.

Came back an hour later, looked at it, called myself an idiot and things fell right in place.

I do need to pick up a fine point marker and do the signature over again. Using a regular pen the line breaks up too much but thats OK, I know it can be done now.

I'd like to know how to hand write a signature also......anyone out there know?

This is what I did. Wrote my sig on a white piece of copy paper with a black shaprie. Took a photo of it.

Opened in PP program and changed to BW, then changed light until the white was pure white. This does not effect the black.

Then cropped closely. Change background to transparent. saved a brush.

Then took that result and reversed the colors, now I have a white and a black sig.

Then I took the white and overlayed on the black, just off to the left and top about 3 pix. Now I have one with a drop shadow.

Open Lightroom and add it to yoru watermarks.

Just came across this vid by J Kost. For LR3 but works in 4.
