I scanned my signture into the computer and was able to get it as a brush or stamp in Photoshop Elements. However, it came out pale gray, after a while I was able to change the color, but I'm still not real happy with it, but it's ok. Now I'd like to try to get it into Lightroom, but it still comes out a pale gray and I can't darken it, anyone have any suggestions?

What version LR? How did you get your signature into LR? I know how to watermark in LR but do not know how to keep my signature as part of that watermark.

This was done using a brush in elements and would love to be able to use this as my watermark in LR4.1

Even if you create one and save as a JPG or a PNG image file, (only two formats supported by LR4) You loose background transparency when you do a "save as" from PS or other. I have created one (signature) on a Wacom Tablet and edited in PS with a transparent background, once saved as a PNG or JPG you loose the transparency of the background. Which is evident when imported into LR4. Other suggestions welcome.

Lightroom 4 - To bring into Lightroom -I scanned my signture, and imported to Elements, then using the magic wand, I selected the letters and used ctrl J to make it a copy, then saved the copy as a jpeg. In Lightroom, under Print section, I went to "Page" clicked on the little arrow down in the signture box, then clicked Edit. Once in edit you can click on "use a grahical Identitiy plate" to bring in your signture in. But mine came in light gray and doesn't show well. I was disappointed and hoped someone would have a better answer. I am sure it can be done, but I need more instructions. If any of you discover how, let me know. Thanks and good luck, if I find a way, I'll post it.

You may toy with using Alpha Channels in PS...Or Elements to get rid of the background, if it has it...I'm not familiar with Elements.

I was able to get rid of the back ground, I just couldn't get the letters dark enough to see well.

Another Thought, haven't used it in a while, "Photo Paint" File> Export For Web,> Select background color with eye dropper, > Select Transparency Icon (checker board)> Set dithering to None. >Save as PNG...Import to LR4.

OK, I understand what you did and had tried it. Had the same problem as you. A you lighten the transparency the signature gets lighter and eventually disappears.

Not what I want. I am trying for what I showed above as done in elements using a brush.

Ok, I downloaded the program and got the same results, but I've been playing with it and have been able to darken it, by painting in black and saving that. It's not prefect yet, but with a little practice, I think I can make this work. Thanks so much, you have been very helpful

exactly, that's the problem I was having and didn't want. But look at the program that OnDSnap has suggested. I've downloaded and have been playing with that and I'm starting to see the results I was looking for. In addition to what he has written, I re-selected the letters and made the color transparent, then painted in with black and exported. When I bought it into Lightroom 4, it didn't look half bad. Need to work a little to get it exactly as I'd like.

I wonder what would happen if you were to sign your name on the glass of a scanner (not with a permanent marker) or even on a clear piece of acetate, a clear mailing label maybe...scan it, not sure if it would create it's own background, I don't have a scanner at where I'm at the moment. It still needs to be a PNG file which supports transparencies, where JPG does not. This is probably off the deep end, and BTW...we aren't the only ones trying to concur this.
