I tried this several different ways but I liked this one the best. It took me a while to figure out how to get the ground to match the style of the tree and I think this is it. I appreciate everyone's comments and assistance.

Love the background Keni. Think I’d try the tree both ways, floating and grounded before deciding which is best - it’s sort of neither at present. The lean of the tree is probably a personal preference - mine would be to straighten it up. All nicely done and heading toward Japanese.

Thank you sir. I did straighten it up just a little. The original tree did have a lean to it that I liked but I think it was a tad too much when the tree was isolated.

This is good work. You got right down to the essential elements of your subject. We have what we need, and nothing more. Linda's suggestion to ground the tree is a good one. The bird is not floating because we get a hint of what he is standing on. Do the same for the tree and you have a really fine photo.
Erich

Thanks Erich! The grounding of the tree was difficult. Unlike the bird that was standing on a rock, in the original tree photo there was a lot of spindly brush. It didn't look good using the original but I think I got there.

That really works. I think it is a really nice improvement. I think this would do well in competition. Beautiful.
