The tree is beautiful and the bird is a nice inclusion. It adds a lot of interest. I'm not big on the application of textures, as I think they distract from the image itself.

Thank you.

Beautifully done. I wonder if having the tree truly float would reinforce your idea.

Thank Bob. Could explain what you mean by "truly float"? I would like to see what you mean but that might be hard without the PSD file.

I echo everyone's comments about the composition and the simplicity. May I add that i also like the subtle lighting.

A lovely portrayal of a simple, yet eye-catching, scene. Very good work.

I tried to pare this down to a simple subject but bring out as much detail as possible in what was left. Your comments would be much appreciated.

Keni, I just love it. I like the color scheme, and love the details in the tree. Good work.

Keni, I meant something like this.

Thank you Edie. One of the layers I used allowed directional lighting and I tried to match the shading direction on the tree to the direction of the light.

I really like this and think it is well done. I can see it on the front of a greeting card for some occasion. My only nit is the large areas of white, left, right and top. They are so bright it is distracting for me.

Thank you so much Bob. I didn't want all the little detail in the tree to be lost by too many distracting elements.

Thanks Dave. It took almost 2 hours to mask that tree. I used Color Range but I couldn't pick up all the colors in the tree because it was picking up too much background. It was worth it though.

Thanks for showing me. I did go back and add a little ground around the bottom of the tree but I like how you moved it up. I may try a combination of both so i have a little more room on the bottom.

Thank you Dennis. My work is usually much darker and I wanted to go another direction so i deliberately went with this background because of the white.

Love the background Keni. Think I’d try the tree both ways, floating and grounded before deciding which is best - it’s sort of neither at present. The lean of the tree is probably a personal preference - mine would be to straighten it up. All nicely done and heading toward Japanese.

This is good work. You got right down to the essential elements of your subject. We have what we need, and nothing more. Linda's suggestion to ground the tree is a good one. The bird is not floating because we get a hint of what he is standing on. Do the same for the tree and you have a really fine photo.
