Love the pics with the walkers. Pretty cool they wore photogenic-colored jackets

The high key look of the white background shot is eye-catching.

As for sad or offensive, after my first view of a bald eagle with blood on its head from snacking on a dead deer, I'm fairly immune. Also, you probably wouldn't want to see a starving hawk or its starving babies (in another couple of months), right? Sorry for the mini-rant; but this is nature! Birds killed by domestic cats or by cars or electric wires or wind turbines...now those are the sad stories.

Since it's black it could be a crow or blackbird. It's not big enough to be a buzzard.

You are right Linda Hawks and Eagles have to eat too. Balance of nature in action.
Without predatory animals and birds we would be over run by all the other animals.

And you'd better not think about picking it up!!!
Nice series. I've got a series of pictures of an owl sitting in a tree in our back yard that I've been meaning to post. I'll get around to it.

Very good series Katy, sorry for the ending.

Thanks, Earnest. I am getting used to seeing this. If they didn't kill, they wouldn't survive. The most difficult was seeing a cute Virginia Rail being eaten, still alive.

Yes, I am aware it is the cycle of life and death, hunter and prey, Linda. I guess what REALLY bothers me is killing for sport (fun). But as a carnivore, I may be rather hypocritical.

It was difficult for me to figure it out, Flakes Mill.

I never thought of it that way. It's just when we go overboard, like we did with the buffalo. Other animals seem to keep a healthy balance.

Definitely not a crow, it is blue, black and white with orange, it might be a heron?

The Wildlife Area I frequent is a flood plain bordered by levees. Often when photographing in one direction, I see people or dogs on the levee. I usually prefer to let dogs into my pictures but this time, it was just hikers.

Very good set, Katydid

I don't think I am going to be sure and maybe it's better that way.
