The Wildlife Area I frequent is a flood plain bordered by levees. Often when photographing in one direction, I see people or dogs on the levee. I usually prefer to let dogs into my pictures but this time, it was just hikers.
Notice, she has a camera. She never lifted it going by this wet hawk. Not sure what pictures she was looking for!

Next, the killer Red-tail Hawk. I had no idea they took prey this big. Any guesses on what it is? I know, pretty offensive looking.

Looks like a web foot, could be a duck or a coot.
Maybe a Blue Jay-or Pigeon?

Yes, I agree. But that white wing stripe threw me off. Thanks.

Only scrub jays here. I though maybe pigeon too! Thanks, Ole Guy.

Glad you liked them, Bmac!
The prey in the last photo is most likely a drake Northern Shoveler. I've seen Harriers take ducks larger than them...size to some extent does not matter when they are hungry. Nice captures!!

I couldn't just walk by a hawk or other animal and not take a shot at least! Hawk's prey is too big for a blue jay probably.

I could not pass up a hawk or other animal.

Well, there are no shortage of Shovelers here, but still it is sad to see, jederick. Thanks for the info.

Not a Blue Jay, I agree. Thanks for commenting, Karin!
