LOL. I think my camera is part vampire and thus tried to avoid bright sunlight. But we do love bad weather.

Thanks Sue. That combination to me just screams "drama" and I think that is what attracts the eye of the viewer.
I've read that photographers should photograph scenes that other do not normally see. Since most folks run for cover when these sort of skies appear they really miss the scene. I think that helps attract them to the image. Look at the number of images posted here that are taken in nothing but nice weather. Post a scene from foul weather and people look.
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth. :-)

I'm trying this again. When I took this I was attracted to the light on the peaks. While I ran to get into a shooting location this little storm cloud rolled in. And yes, it really was this color. Got a couple of shots, and then 10 minutes later it was raining hard enough to float the arc. Love bad weather for photos.
