new here.
Hi all, I just signed up. Looking for knowledge and wisdom from experienced photographers. I am just starting to get a little more serious about the pictures I take. Am looking for advice about types cameras that will work the best for the pictures I want to take. I like photographing mostly nature and wildlife. I currently have a Cannon sx30IS, it's ok for what I was doing, but I want to upgrade to something better. My budget is about 1500.00, any advise is welcome. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks.
My suggestion for wildlife photography would be a mid-grade APS-C camera (for the extended reach) and as good of a FAST telephoto lens (fixed or prime) that you can afford, at least 300MM.
In the Nikon Line, I would investigate a good used or refurbished D7200 (+/-$600.00) and then the best glass you can afford after that. In the Cannon line, I don't know their model numbers, but mid to upper grade APS-C and L series glass.

I am not a Canon guy, so I will let someone else advise you on a model of Canon. But, when you decide what you want to buy, I would recommend you check out KEH for used equipment. It is a great way to save some money, and they usually give a decent guarantee on the products they sell. B&H Photo and Adorama are great places to shop online as well. Good luck with what ever you choose.
thanks for the info...I'm not fixed into any specific brand of camera, I just want to get the best that I can afford.
Welcome. The D7200 is good advice if you want a Nikon at your budget that will do the job.

Nikon and Canon both make good cameras but the key to success is GLASS! IMHO the camera features are mostly for your convenience while the GLASS gets the good photo.
The Nikon 7000 series and even the 5000 series will do a very good job if you put the right lens on.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
