Yes a cable would be faster but a card reader even more so.

Yes, I'm fully aware that the 760D is a European model, but I did not know the wifi connection would be any different.

Actually, downloading via a cable is much faster than wifi anyway.

I have an 80 D. I am not computer illiterate by any means. I share your issues. The procedures are archaic, counter intuitive, and unreliable. Pretty sad implementation for such a great camera.

Is it just me or do others have trouble setting up the Canon to computer, smartphone wifi connections. It seems incredibly difficult.

Interesting, I found my 80D quite easy to set up, use and deal with. The wifi was a snap. I keep wifi off 90% of the time, using one of three saved setups to create a wifi connection between my iPad, iPhone or iMac depending on the need.

The remote control works great from iPhone or iPad using the Canon app.

For me, the trick was create a wifi connection for my iPhone, get connected then make sure I SAVED the setting in camera so I can just select it. Same for iPad and iMac. That keeps the wifi SSID & password the same for the saved settings when they are reused, so your remote device remembers it and reconnects easily.

Once the connections are set up and saved in camera, its a snap to turn on wifi, select what device to connect to then go to the remote device and make the wifi connection.

Jason - are you aware that the 760D is a European model and that the WiFi standards are different than the US? This is why you can't get that camera connected. If you had the T6S (US model) it would connect. This is why you need to be careful buying EU versions of cameras and lenses.

Actually I discovered the following dialog from a T6S owner:

"Well....I have a T6s and the EOS manual says the T6's will NOT connect via WiFi (bummer). So I fired a note to Canon. Their reply:

The EOS Rebel T6s Wi-Fi feature currently allows wireless connection to another Camera, Smartphone, Printer, Media Player, or Web service. While a feature to connect to a computer wirelessly
with the EOS Rebel T6s is unavailable, you can still use the USB cable for downloading images and remote shooting using the EOS Utility software."

So, the problem seems inherent to both the T6S and 760D. I think that the perceived "issues" with gray market cameras is often overblown.

I honestly cannot think of a circumstance which would cause me to want to connect to my computer through wifi.

It's (WiFi) slow for downloading pics; I use a cable even on my WiFi-capable cameras.

To the OP: Yes I have great difficulty connecting via WiFi my 6DII and my computer. I have done it twice but both times it took a lot of fooling around and by the time the connection was established I had forgotten exactly the order in which I tried things in that iteration. I do connect to my cell phone for remote operation quite easily so I don't understand why the computer is such a problem. I get frustrated fooling with it and then just succumb to connecting via USB cable.
