Is it just me or do others have trouble setting up the Canon to computer, smartphone wifi connections. It seems incredibly difficult.
I've had my SX-60 linked to a smartphone and tablet since August, but did have some trouble initially. As I recall, it seemed to be sensitive to which device (camera or phone) was activated first. Once I had it linked, though, it worked well, allowing me to back up my photos on an Alaska cruise without a computer.
I have a Canon SX620HS and a Canon 6D that are linked to my computer via wifi and there was no problem setting them up. However, it is impossible to set up a wifi connection on my Canon 760D (T6S).
Which model do you have?

80d. another question is whether you can set up connections to both the computer and smartphone though not at the same time.
Jason - are you aware that the 760D is a European model and that the WiFi standards are different than the US? This is why you can't get that camera connected. If you had the T6S (US model) it would connect. This is why you need to be careful buying EU versions of cameras and lenses.

It's not you as anything of relevance to wifi or wireless is very difficult to use as there's way too much interference in and around this world in order to have a stable connection. I encountered this back in 2003 while using a wireless mouse.. Never again. Just another reason I've disabled my computer's wifi and even created a wire cage that fits over the computer, which obsturcts any and all wifi type signals. Stick with a wired connection.

Yes, I'm fully aware that the 760D is a European model, but I did not know the wifi connection would be any different.
Actually, downloading via a cable is much faster than wifi anyway.

I have done that with my (almost an 80D) 77D.
I was ready for a real pain, the set up was remarkable easy. The manual, surprisingly, was straightforward and the procedure was clear and relatively simple. The remote functionality on my iphone is exceptional. It is like a remote Live View, way more useful than a wired remote.

Set up for both, yes. Operate simultaneously, I'm not sure, but would doubt it. Do you want to do that? Once set up, the facility gives you your choice of device to connect to.
Both my T6 & 77D connect fairly easily to WiFi. I think the process is a bit steppe, but after initial set up it works well.

FWIW: I shoot with an 80D, I have it set up for 3 WiFi connections, computer, iPhone & iPad. I can only use one at a time, but no problems with any of them. I use the WiFi for remote control from iPhone or iPad, and image transfer to computer at times.

A wire cage over your computer to eliminate WIFi (which it probably won’t) that you could just disable? Do you also have a tin foil hat?🙀

WiFI in Europe is the same as WI-FI in the US with the exception that they have two additional channels (12 &13) not available in the US. Just make sure the camera isn’t on channel 12 or 13.
"Do you also have a tin foil hat?🙀" Dilly...Dilly!
