Adorama's store and corporate headquarters are in New York City although they do have a distribution center in New Jersey.,

Oh, really, Pego?

What does it indicate on the shipping label? …

I've no doubt you have received your Z6 from a place in New Jersey, but, it's likely to be a distribution center, much the same as the one B&H uses (perhaps, the same one!)

But, Adorama is "headquartered" in Manhattan, down on 18th St. in the Flatiron District (very near Gramercy Park.)

Layout of Streets and Avenues in Downtown Manhattan
Except for these streets - which are two-way - all streets run east to west, and are one-way, alternating. The exceptions, from the lowest to the highest are as follows -
14th St., 23rd St., 34th St., 42nd St., 59th St. (above the park, was never "my" area, so I don't know.)
The Avenues - run north and south. They also alternate, being one way, or both ways. Some - on the extreme west side, are two-way, but all the ones east of Broadway, are one-way.
Broadway - runs diagonally through the whole mish-mash from Harlem to the Financial District. In the area from round-about 42nd St. to 59th St. (below the park) and on the cross streets where Broadway merges with them all - is the theatre district. (Except for the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts - which is west of the park - in the upper 60s, I believe.)
This criss-cross pattern of streets and avenues - in the mid-town area, anyway - makes it very easy to find a location - IF you know the nearest cross street and avenue. The Financial District - which incorporates Wall St. and the World Trade Center - is at the southern tip of Manhattan island. In this area, since the island tapers off to practically a point - the criss-cross pattern of streets and avenues idea - goes to hell in a hand-basket. Only the folks who live and work in that area - really know how to get from A to B. I used to get lost in Greenwich Village, for Goodness Sakes!!! - which is quite a bit north of there - above the Bowery.
Lived on 33rd St. and 2nd Avenue for two years, whilst attending school on 23rd St., and 2nd. So, for that period of time, that ten blocks (which I walked) was my haunting ground. Also, I ventured west to 8th Avenue, to attend another school there, and down to the Village, to attend a third school there.
Gramercy Park - begins at 23rd St. going south along 2nd. Avenue. The Flatiron District is just west of where I went to school, and on the way thru to Greenwich Village - which starts at 14th Street, and works its way south and west from there.
The Flatiron district - named for the Flatiron Building - corner of 23rd. St., Broadway, and 5th. Avenue - was a low-rent area for a while, and tended to attract commercial photographers because of the low rent. Because of this, there were a lot of commercial photography supply houses in the area, for a while - but, it was Adorama, ultimately - to which they all went.
Many years on, now - it can be seen why Adorama has flourished. They're just the best at what they do - catering to ALL photographers - commercial ones, and laymen, too ....

For camera and video gear B&H is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

Thank you.

It’s upsetting that they are all now required to collect tax to every county in the United States! But they are totally reputable.

More precisely, B&H, and every other similar retailer, is required to collect sales tax for about 20 states (at last count) who have taken advantage of the SCOTUS South Dakota v. Wayfair ruling. I cannot predict the future but at this time it is certainly NOT "every county in the United States."

BTW, this is the same tax a customer would be liable for as "use tax" which customers are supposed to declare on their state tax forms, forms which are signed under penalty of perjury. Just sayin'

I just found out why B&H and I don't get along..*Facepalm* I don't speak their language.. Yiddish.

Curiously, after 20+ years here i don't speak much Yiddish either. But every one of our almost 2000 employees speaks English. Many (not I) are multi-lingual too.

I have used B&H and Adorama, they are about two blocks apart from each other in NY as I remember.

Once upon a time we were, when B&H was on W19th St. We're on 9th Ave new between 33rd & 34th Sts. Google says we're 1.3 miles apart today.

B&H is a pretty big store. It's on 9th Avenue, at the corner of 34th St. It seems like it fills a full block, but, I don't think it does. It is, however, at least six full floors.

The store occupies the full block of 9th Ave from 33rd to 34th Sts. it is two, not six stories.

Perhaps, it should also be stated, that whilst B&H is an "all-in-one" setup - they keep their inventory right there, at the store on 9th Ave. and 34th St.

The warehouse in Manhattan under the store feeds the store. Our main warehouse is in New Jersey

Dave - Adorama was my sole supplier of all things photographic - from 1973 to 2014 - which is when I went to B&H, as they did not have the item I wanted. Since, my purchases have been divided between them. But, to me - after-market customer relations - have always been served better by Adorama than B&H - but, only, marginally. They are BOTH top-notch companies to work with. You can't find much better ….
