Don't miss spending a day at Xcaret. Plan to go reasonably early and stay late. The evening show in the arena is spectacular.

Looked it up...sounds like fun. Thanks

You know I think I got Xel Xa mixed up with Xcaret - Xel Xa offers fantastic swimming in the fresh water lagoons and rivers - Xcaret has the underground river, zoo, fantastic museum/architectural displays of the Mayan Cities and spectacular Mayan music and dancers. again a full day or at least afternoon.- there is a good swimming lagoon/beach also.
,

Looks like both to me. Thanks

The Cancun area roads are pretty safe - just follow Rule #1 - don't drive at night when out of the major tourist area./ NO back roads.

Makes abundantly good sense to me.

Hi again Harvey:

If we don’t walk/drive at night & no country roads, Karin (my wife) asked to seek your advice as to whether or not she can wear her jewellery?

Thanks, Murray

We prepaid rent cars via rentcars.com in July. I got a midsized for $12.00 for the week, unlimited mileage, and it included Mexico insurance. My amigo got the same deal for $9.00. Those are round numbers.

We go down there every year, get a rental car, and stay either in Vidanta Riviera Maya or a resort in Playa del Carmen.

We feel perfectly safe driving around that area.

it's not a good idea to wear expensive jewelry down there. Wear Ross or TJ Maxx jewelry and leave the good stuff home

My wife and I are heading to Cancun on Friday. Not partygoers anymore (mid 70’s), but interested in tours, ruins, etc. Anything specific we shouldn’t miss?

Thanks in advance

A walk the length of 5th ave from the Ferry terminal north to Centennial then back down the beach to the ferry building stopping every once in a while for a snack/drink and people watching is highly recommended.

Murray,

Take a look at Rentalcars.com.

I just checked a week with unlimited miles Jan 15 to 23. I find a Chevrolet Aveo from Hertz, price for 8 days is US $17.67, and it includes Mexico liability insurance.

Also, see https://www.autorentals.com/SearchResults?location=CUN%20-%20Cancun%20Airport%20in%20Cancun%2C%20MX&pickupLocation=CUN%20-%20Cancun%20Airport%20in%20Cancun%2C%20MX&dropoffLocation=&oneway=no&pickupDate=01%2F15%2F2019&pickupTime=10%3A00&dropoffDate=01%2F22%2F2019&dropoffTime=10%3A00

BTW... I always take my Garmin GPS with me. It includes good Mexico coverage.

Dick
