My wife and I are heading to Cancun on Friday. Not partygoers anymore (mid 70’s), but interested in tours, ruins, etc. Anything specific we shouldn’t miss?

Thanks in advance

Tulum, Xel Xa, Xel Xa is an underwater National park and the high point of my trips to that area, They supply you with fins mask, snorkel and vest. Wonderful experience.

The day trip to Chichen Itza wuold be well worth it, but try to find one that gets you there early - it gets crowded. Tulum, a smaller ruin down the coast, is right on the ocean and quite interesting.

Depends on your other interests and physical abilities. We went there is our mid fifties and now in our seventies I would not hesitate to go again. We enjoyed Tulum, snorkeling at Xel Xa, and we also liked the ruins at Coba (make sure you go with a tour guide).

I don't know how much time you have or budget but the trip to Chichen Itza is a must and a tour is highly recommended - a couple recomendations-Mayaland Bus tour takes you too the Mayland hotel right next to the ruins - great food and enertainment there - if driving and have the time staying for the night show is hightly recomended - our best trip there - of many while living in the Cancun area for 5 yrs was driving mid day and staying in the Mayaland Hotel- watching the night show - going on a tour the next day and then driving back - stopping in Viadollid (spl) also a must see "Old" city.
Another long day trip is to drive south to Coba- so much to see there and I think the Grand Pyramid is the only one you can climb-after doing the Coba ruins go back and checkout the crocodiles in the lake - at the northeast side of the lake is a fantastice hotel with great food - then head back to Talum for the afternoon/evening. Wow I have so many great memories of out times there. P/M me if you want.

Xel Xa has soooooooooooo much to offer - you really need to check out all it offers - expensive entrance fee but so worth it - a full day there is what it takes to cover it - the dift thru the underground river is a real experience.

Weird. I thought I had relied but the computer ate it. Anyway, again thanks for the great advice/ We're the for 11 days and budget is not a huge issue, so we'll follow through. Thanks.

Don't miss spending a day at Xcaret. Plan to go reasonably early and stay late. The evening show in the arena is spectacular.

You know I think I got Xel Xa mixed up with Xcaret - Xel Xa offers fantastic swimming in the fresh water lagoons and rivers - Xcaret has the underground river, zoo, fantastic museum/architectural displays of the Mayan Cities and spectacular Mayan music and dancers. again a full day or at least afternoon.- there is a good swimming lagoon/beach also.
