Good one.

If that's directed towards mine, thanks.

Well, here's mine. It's one of my favorite places on the planet. It is SO rare to see this sleeping volcano "destapado" (uncovered) from its normal cloud cover. Measure from the center of the earth, it's the tallest one. But since it's located at the fattest part of the earth, and measurements are taken from sea level, not from the center, it doesn't get that title in the books. It's called Chimborazo, and it is located just outside Riobamba in the province of Ecuador named for it.
Well, here's mine. It's one of my favorite places... (show quote)

Whether it's the tallest or not, it looks like you had some clear air to shoot through (not always the case with mountains). Thanks for posting, Kathy.

A beautiful spot, IG (can I call you IG for short? ). I can see why it's one of your favourites. And to my eye the PP was carefully considered and carefully executed.

It looks like something straight out of "Lord of the Rings" - beautiful color and composition.

Sure, IG works.. and thanks for the kind words. Shot RAW through a polarizing filter. A few adjustments in Lightroom only. It is a lovely spot, especially very early in the morning as it was here. It's a short hike after a wee bit of a paddle via kayak, at least that's how I get there. I understand it can be hiked to over land as well. I'm an avid kayaker and always take my AW1 with me. It may have a tiny sensor, but it gets the job done without the worries of dunking it in the drink. It stays around my neck the entire time I'm on the water.

IGTQ2 I am glad you showed this wonderful landscape, it the vision I would like to walk into and just be. It also shows how well the nikon1 cameras work. I have several and use them often, and quietly refer them as my little leicas. But thanks most for your beautiful vision. RBorud

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Several years ago I was looking for a waterproof camera to take kayaking. Not liking the image quality of any of the offerings I stumbled upon an ad from Amazon selling the A1 J2 for around $150.00 when the J3 came out. I liked the images I saw so I got one figuring I'd pout if it went in the drink but it wouldn't be the end of the world (by contrast I'd want to hang myself if I went in with my 5DS R and a Zeiss lens!). I ended up getting a few lenses for it and being quite happy with the IQ. In fact, I'd grab it instead of the big camera for family get togethers and what not; which doesn't mean I don't adore my big guy... Anyway, when the fully submergible AW1 came out I sold the J2 and purchased a refurbished AW1 for around $350.00 with the two lens kit. While I actually prefer the smaller form factor and image color of the J2, I love dripping water all over my AW1 while kayaking as opposed to taking the J2 in and out of a dry box all the time. Having it around my neck I get to use it more, and you know what they say about the camera you use....
