All these tales of car theft and damage made me recall the few years over 40 years ago when i dispatched tow trucks from my house nights and weekends from a remote phone and CB setup. The saddest calls I answered were from owners who were referred by the police and I had to tell them their car was totaled by the thief or stripped.

Sorry for your loss.
There seems to be a lot of thievery in Colorado these days; I think it has something to do with the legalization of marijuana.

I am hesitant to go back to Colorado.

Jason

Having traveled to/through Colorado many times over many decades, I think the thievery and marijuana legalization both stem from the same roots: The strip from Fort Collins south along I-25, through Denver to Pueblo, is now largely populated by people from California and states in the NE. They don't have the values or political views of traditional Coloradans, and have transformed that area into a clone of LA. Travel a few miles off the Interstate and you're in a different world. When we lived in Texas, we thought about moving north to CO, WY, UT, or MT, and I spent quite a bit of time roaming those areas looking at homes and land. Almost invariably, the first question I'd get from realtors and private sellers was "You're not from California, are you?" Californians were widely viewed as a blight in all those states for a number of reasons.

There is a guy in custody now in connection with my vehicle. He is not necessarily the person that stole it, but he was found in possession of the gun that I had in the car. He was out on bond for 4 other seperate felony charges in Colorado, and one in Calif. He says he got the gun from someone else, but won't say who. He had 2 other guns in his possession, but they have not been reported stolen to date.

I just don't see how this can happen. If you are out on bond for a felony and commit another felony, why would the court let you out on bond again. I suspect that these lenient policies are part of the reason for the exploding crime rates. I would also suspect that Colorado's recent drug legalization might account for the increase in scumbags.

True, and I will have 2. I had already replaced it and my ins co. has paid for it. When I told them it had been recovered they told me that when it is released it is mine. They do not do salvage firearms and they don't want it.

Not only Californians, but Illinois too. They bring their culture with them and then wonder why this is not the place they thought it was so lets change it. Our gov't is so liberal that now they are trying to establish legal injection zones, where addicts can shoot up without fear of legal problems. Just what we need. We are one of the leading drug dispersal in the US, and now we can be an addicts paradise too. When the mayor of Denver is caught with sexual misconduct , it is okay with people because we don't want to make a big deal of it and make the news for weeks on end like the Fake News does. Coloradoans used to have integrity and honor, now it is all about how nonsensical can we get (like the planet Boulder) and be a sanctuary state.

Thats because we have the best law system, but it is also the most flawed.....because most people (including a lot of judges) rely on feelings istead of law. JMO

As many know, my 4 Runner was stolen in Aurora, Co. on Nov.25. It was recovered about a week later in Englewood with 15,000 worth of damage. At the time of the recovery it contained a bunch of stuff that indicated various other thefts including other auto thefts.

On Dec. 10 I was notified that an item of my property that was in the 4 Runner at the time of theft had been recovered by Aurora Police in the possession of a convicted felon that was out on bond for various other felonies and was in possession of a 9mm and an AR15.

Fast forward to Dec 15. I was notified that more of my property had been recovered in the possession of 3 felons. This recovery was by the Douglas County SO and happened on Nov. 27, 2 days after my vehicle was taken.

The 3 that had possession of my stuff were in an Infiniti that had been stolen on Nov. 18th which leads me to believe that they were not the ones that actually took my car, but were connected with the people that did. Seems like there is a whole gang of people that are proficient at stealing cars working in the Denver area.

During the encounter with Douglas County deputies, the suspects fired at officers and were also throwing property out of the vehicle during a high speed chase. Deputies finally rammed the vehicle and stopped it at which time a gunfight ensued and 1 suspect was killed, one wounded and one arrested.

The suspect that was killed was out on bond for several other felonies including Aggravated Auto Theft.

Maybe there is at least a little justice in the world.
