While visiting my son and his family in Aurora, Co. over Thanksgiving my vehicle was stolen along with all my Paul Buff lights. Thankfully I had taken the cameras in the house. I have replaced the lights with FlashPoint 600's from Adorama.

These were more expensive, but they are a substantial upgrade. I can control all three lights individually with the transmitter on the hot shoe, 2 of them are TTL, and all have High Speed Sync and second curtain flash. They each have their own battery pack, so no more portable battery packs and extension cords.

Didn't have any of my beautiful models to test the new lights, so I just took a quick selfie. This is a single light with just the 8" reflector that the light came with. No other modifiers. Can't wait to see the results with some of my boxes and umbrellas and of course a worthy model.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Did you get your vehicle back? Any leads?

Got the car back minus the contents with 13,000 in damages. No leads, no suspects, and the Aurora Police department is treating it like the shoplifting of a candy bar.

My insurance company has been great so far. Vehicle is 100 deductible so not much out of pocket there, but the contents are covered by homeowner's and not vehicle so the deductible is 1,500. Ouch!!

Exactly how police treated the theft of my son’s new Acura. It was infuriating. I guess they just figure it’s already chopped and insurance will cover the loss regardless of how the law chooses to act.

It was never found, and insurance did cover it.

I'd suggest remeasuring before you buy your additional reflector-based grids, diffusors, barn-doors, etc. I'll bet it's 7".

Sorry your car and equipment were stolen. Thank goodness for insurance! Our car was stolen several years ago - the thief broke into the dining room through a sliding door and grabbed the keys off the table. Cops caught him at another apartment building stealing a tv set. The car wasn't damaged but we had to pay a $160 tow bill to get it back from the tow yard. He got more time for going into our apartment than he did for taking our car.

Most patrol officers are sympathetic.......but detectives could care less about thefts.
My police officer son has been offered a detective job twice...and has declined TWICE ....... he wants to help people !

Wasn't planning to buy any additional parts for the reflector, but I will check the size if I decide to. I said 8" in my post because the reflector that came with the FlashPoint looks bigger than the one with the Paul Buff lights.

Sorry to hear of the theft, Bill, but it sounds like you took those sour lemons and made lemonade. Bravo!

I have a 600, and the amazing AD200.
The Flashpoint monolights use a Bowens mount for modifiers like softboxes and reflectors.
I think there is an adapter so you can use your Paul Buff modifiers on your light.
I really like my Flashpoint Glow beauty dishes.

I have already got the adaptors to use Buff modifiers for everything except the beauty dish. Since I never use it anyway I gave it to a friend. I got 2 Glow umbrellas and 2 c stands in the kits that I bought.

Been through that ordeal.

I hope they are caught and sentenced to 30 days in the electric chair.
