I can understand the lack of facemask call. Looks like incidental contact to me from your angle (not sure what the coach or ref saw). Hand/fingers never turned toward the mask
HS and college are different in this regard
Curious to the DOF in the shots @ 5.6. I would have thought you would go more wide open, or was that the limit of the lens at that particular zoom.

Most of the shots are close and using the flash fills in the shadows. I was shooting at 12:00 in the afternoon so the light was directly above me. I was getting little help from the sun. The following shots are with fill-flash.

Jules - very important to observe that you are using the flash fill for non-field shots. I like the closeups and will remember this when shooting candids “away from the action”
