Nice cool day about 55 here in the desert. A pleasure to shoot this game, a lot of good action.
Most shots:
1/2000 at 5.6 auto iso and auto white balance. Shooting at 12:00 was a bit of an issue, but got through the day. A bit rusty because it's been about two weeks without shooting anything, but by the end of the first quarter, I felt good.
Enjoy and comments and suggestions always welcome.
The first set a face mask penalty was not called. The coach went crazy.

Nice series on the face-mask--I can easily understand the coach's frustration; after all his team did give up 26 points, lol. The whites don't look too-blown for a noon start. I like number 7 best...DB pass break-ups are solid eye-catchers in newsprint. For this to have been a typical Gorman blow-out (another State Champeenship!) your shots give some homage to Monoque's offense. I'm guessing Gorman struck fast offensively which meant their defense was on the field most of the game. I'm still envious of your shooting conditions, and start times.

Hey Jules, how are you? I knew you were going to shoot this game, Super shots as always you are the man! I don't really think he ever got his hand inside the mask did he? I will have to look closer. I am going to Max to look at the rest of photos keep up the excellent work.

Great photos as always Jules...
I believe no face mask penalty was called because from looking at these photos, I would say it was not called because the defender never had a grasp on the face mask only contact with it. Just my opinion though, but I agree with the refs, no penalty...

Nice series on the face-mask--I can easily underst... (show quote)

Actually Acufine the game was close until the second quarter, then BG started to pull away. No looking back. It was 7-7 at that point.

Hi Tom:
Thanks for looking. I think the rules are you can't even get near the face area, not sure about high school. This play was right in front of the coaches and me. I was trying to follow the play thru the camera, so who knows?

You’re truly blessed getting to shoot what will be a true golden era for Gorman. I got to shoot a similar type team in the early ‘80s. 16-0, and un-scored on in 14 division games enroute to a state championship...which they won 54-0. Still a national record. Enjoy Gorman’s run!

I believe this was their 10th straight state championship. To be honest it gets a little boring after a while with no other team stepping up. I will tell you their kids are big. Today 6 touchdowns by one kid. 268 yards on the ground. Scary!!!

Thank you for looking and commenting. I used two cameras for this game. The main camera is a Nikon D4 with a 80-400 4.5-5.6 vr lens. The other Nikon D500 28-70 2.8 with flash for fill light.

Thanks. What shots were with the 28-70 2.8 ? Why flash ?
