For folks that think newspapers are old fashioned and not worth the money, please realize that newspapers are essential to our democracy. Long live the printed news.

Old newspapers have been invaluable when doing genealogical research. Tis a pity the next generation won't have the resource.

Many of us older folks have almost no idea of what is available online or other electronic media and that's a pity. UGA (The Utah Genealogical Association) in Salt Lake City and the resources they use might be of interest to you for your searches.

The resources on the Internet dwarf what has been recorded in all newspapers ever produced, partly because most of those papers are archived online!

I quit taking a daily paper four years ago, partly because we moved, and partly because papers are pathetic now. Most local news organizations can put more online, because they have far less overhead.

Obviously TP is necessary...

My wife used to make fun of Kindle Readers and IPads. Now, she’s glued to them, just as she was attached to books.

I still read the daily paper electronically, but The Hartford Courant has turned into a rag. When it got up to about $400 a year for a print subscription, I went to twice a week (Thurs. and Sun.) delivery and electronic access 7 days a week for about $55 a year. The only reason I get the twice a week delivery is for the ads. The worst part is that most of the news is old by the time the paper is "published" each day. Between 24/7 cable news, local tv news, radio and internet, I have seen 80% of what the paper puts in print each day before the paper is on my door step or my in box.

I also read a lot, but I haven't bought an actual book in years. It's all eBooks and my iPad is constantly in my hands.

Not a thing! Just getting your attention!

Busy as usual and still getting a couple hours a day outside doing all that important home owner stuff. Headed for the Everglades late Jan and back to Yellowstone for a month in June!

We'll see what we can scare up early spring. Meanwhile, may your Holidays be warming!

We usually head to FL for part of the winter, but I'm bored with it. Trying to talk the wife into going to Texas this year. Fall cleanup is finally done, but all the rain really put me behind this year.

Hanukkah is over at sundown today, so my holiday is done. My wife bought me a 3D printer! I have no friggin' idea what I’m going to do with it.

I hope you have a great Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.

Thank you very much and we will holler in the spring before the Yellowstone trip!

Stay warm and happy! Right now my thoughts are about being warm.

Turn on the record feature first and it would be quite interesting to see the last moments of the fly....until PETA protests.
