Here I am on a 40' ladder putting the gable lights up for the house lighting Friday.
The green ladder is a 10' ladder.
Also the house from last year, the gable on the far left is the one I am shown working on.
Putting lights up.

That's quite a display - lush but not overdone!

We call it the Norman Rockwell look.
Using the beautiful of the old 1895 Victorian Shingle Architecture to inform the lighting of the house and property.
We have about 2,000 plus visitors a year including buses.
A few years ago we actually hosted tours through the house as well where I dressed as the owner, Howard Janney and my wife as the "French" maid, Sarah Brinks (The name of the real maid of Howard). The single day we counted almost 2,000 visitors. Many from the area who had grown up here and were never allowed to even go onto the property let alone go into the house. We had an organist playing our 1880's pump organ and a violinist playing Christmas tunes. The men took and interest in the "French" maid but their wives tried to hurry them along. This was the outfit she wore, this was taken when she was going to a halloween party but we thought it would be fun for the tour. She spoke with her Jersey accent and said "Howard" thought is was a French accent.
We just had tons of fun.
Here is a photo of the organ, dining room with a Docent, the built in cabinet in the kitchen foyer and the Gatsby Room as part of the tour.
Very nice!! And everybody should have a french maid!!

I've always loved Victorian houses - our previous house was an 1828 brick farmhouse - interesting but definitely pre-Victorian. Thanks for sharing about your house!

You mean you take them down?
Lookin' good, though!
Nice. If I can't put the lights up from where I'm standing on the ground, they don't go up. Half an hour, and I'm done. : )

Summer storms would beat the lights apart. Tried leaving the high ones one year and they were trashed.

Born, raised and still live in Williamsport. This is always one of the highlights of the season. Probably one of, if not the top displays in the area. This and Candy Cane Lane. Drive by several times each season. Have taken many out of town friends and relatives past. Never fails to please. Didn’t know that you took tours through at one time. Should be on Christmas cards. Keep up the season. Will be by soon for our annual viewing!

Thx, Most likely the windows will not be done till the weekend is over but the exterior will be lit tomorrow night.
We are considering doing another tour in the future.
It is associated with the Victorian Christmas here.
When we were on the tour the attendance tripled for that year and went way down in subsequent years.
It was a lot of extra work to have the interior completely decorated and it is done before Thanksgiving so we had to start decorating much earlier.
