You might be surprised to find how easy it is to navigate around the Olympus Manual. Just take your time, start with the easy stuff you already understand, play around with it. Menu is well organized and logical. And don't forget: you can always use "RESET".

well, after talking with them I became convinced; only a couple of other times have I seen anyone using MFT; needed some reassurance I was moving in the right direction ( at least, for me )

This page from Steve Wrotniak should get you started.

Steve Wrotniak has the the best "go to" guy I have used since I purchased my E300 and my E-1Pro in 2003. I still use him om current models today. Strong point for him is that since the beginning of the Olympus DSLR and Mirrorless he very pointedly tweaks setting for performance and posts his findings. He has delivered more performance information than any other person I have followed. And he's a working traveler and photographer.

I had the same translation issues a bit. Not too much of that these days once I got some cheat sheets together of equivalencies. The biggest issue was deciding how to reprogram several of the function buttons, such as the on off switch relocated so I can flip it on and off with my thumb. I also turned off the focus ring clutch on the pro lenses because it is way to easy to slide the ring into the clutch disengagement position when shooting quickly. The autofocus system works superbly for 99% of my photos.

I just got back from three weeks in Italy and Greece and ended up with over 4000 frames that used only the autofocus. Of those , I have only found about twenty that did not catch focus properly, and on examination they were either operator error or very low lighting situations that caused the focus to hunt.

How did you turn off the focus ring clutch on the pro lenses? That drives me crazy , and I would love to turn it off. It seemed to me that Nikon had a better idea with having the switches on the barrel

I replied earlier, but just thought of this "gotcha". If you are using one of the "pro" lenses with the manual focus ring that can be slid back for manual or forward for auto focus,
remember this: When you pull the camera out of your bag, once in a while the ring will slide while taking the camera out or in.
Then you will be trying to figure out why it will not auto-focus. Happened to me once and I spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out if the camera or the lens had a problem.
I finally remembered the ring and sure enough, it was in MF. Gotcha!
I replied earlier, but just thought of this "... (show quote)

That happens to me quite a lot. Now , at least, I know what to look for whenever that happens, and it does happen a lot. In the beginning , I just thought something was really wrong. I called a friend who had also just made the switch from Nikon to Olympus and she told me what had happened.

They’re total junk. Send it to me and I will properly dispose of it. Ok, jokes aside, it is a spectacular camera. Suggest you look up the blog website of Robin Wong who has menu suggestions and comments on all thing Oly. Am a fan of the system. Darryl Young's books are excellent as well. And if you don’t like it get a hold of me.

I have been using "Mastering the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2 written by Darrell Young and published by rockynook. it is a great book with recommended menu settings after each section.
