This is one reason I question my decision to remain a part of UHH. Practically every single thread or post always end up in a rant or a mess of remarks totally unrelated to the subject at hand.

All I see is bickering, running down this person or that, condemning the poster for some unforeseen thing, and playing favorites when posting a pic.

Why cant each of us act civil, answer the specific question at hand and overlook the inaccuracies. We are not all perfect as some believe they are, some of us may have special needs and use photography as a release of the pressures of life, or we are getting older and may be early dementia.

Isn't it about time to get on with the purpose of this forum....to give advice and do it constructively?

Admin, please repost the guidelines of this group. If you cant live with them please leave and let the rest of us help each other.

I've had enough of this garbage lately.

When you say, this forum, do you mean UHH in general or a specific discussion category? I have to disagree on practically every, that seems to be way more than likely and from my own observation, quite inaccurate. The purpose of a social media forum is to generate conversation. The more conversation the better. How do you think web sites like this one generate revenue? There's no membership fee! Revenue is based on usage and usage is conversation. I don't believe it is appropriate to tell admin to leave if they can't live with the forum guidelines. If you don't like the way admin administrates then you could rent don't server space and set up your own photography based forum and ban anyone that doesn't strictly adhere to your standards.
There are more specific categories within the forum that you may want to stick to. The more general discussion categories, like Chit Chat and Main Photography appear to be the ones that have a tendency for posters to skew from the topic.

When you see a "rant" you do not like. Don't keep reading it. Just move along. It is what adults do.

Not an excuse, a rationalization, or a systematic babble. Probably started out saying something different, then wandered into this rabbit hole. Either way, I don't believe I was being unpropitious, nor am I accusing you of being antagonistic.
So, if a question is a rhetorical question, is it really a question, or a statement disguised as a question, which isn't really a question at all.

Who doesn't like a good, well thought-out and articulated rant?! I say, if it can't be educational, it may as well be entertaining.

This is the case with every forum I have ever been to, whether it be about photography, music or Custer's last stand. Some demand strict adherence to the subject, others like to cheap shot, still others like to absorb whatever information is made available while being entertained by the exploding crackpots. Which reminds me, which is better, Nikon or Canon ???

Why do you people do this? The guy has a Canon. He asked about his Canon. He wants to get a longer reaching lens for his Canon. All the time on this forum I read a post when some one asks a specific question on a specific product, and sometime they will get a ton of responses suggesting the change brands. This seems to happen a lot with printer questions. Unbelievable.

Not if someone is being paid by Nikon to post here. Then it's very believable.

Rants are a minor inconvenience. Sellers and seller's agents posing as buyers
is dishonest.

Well put. Some people have difficulty getting their head around around it. Maybe this shows better how a smaller sensor only captures a part of the scene and "discards" the rest of the available image.

I'll be honest, I didn't join UHH to learn photography. I've been practicing photography for around 50 years. I may not know the esoteric intricacies like people who have formal education in photography or have been professional career photographers or are simply photography geeks who live and breath photography. No, I'm just your average retired working class person who found they enjoyed playing with the camera when I was a teenager, and just stuck with it over the years. Two, well three, things have been fairly consistent through out my adult life, well, make that four. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 15. I've owned camera's since I was 15. I've always enjoyed and had a knack for things mechanical and I like dogs. My wife is allergic to dogs so we found hypoallergenic dogs and have had some sort of small white offspring of the decendents of some ancient breed of dogs from islands near Africa.

When I see interesting information on UHH I try to absorb as much as I can but I'm not here specifically to find information. I'm somewhat of a social person and this is social media so, combine an interest with a need and here you go. Besides, who doesn't enjoy a good exploding crackpot every now and then.

As for which is better, Canon or Nikon; the advertisement lied. It said the answer was here but it's obviously not. I own both Canon and Nikon and I chose the two Nikon bodies for a valid reason. The D7200 is an amazing camera for the cost and the D500 is also. The D500, in my opinion is still the best camera body in it's class. I feel Nikon sometimes goes a little overboard with its counter offerings to Canon products. Take the D5 vs the D1X II. Both amazing cameras but in the end the Canon comes out on top because Canon didn't go overboard on functionality, the Canon is a bit less fragile, not that either are fragile, and it costs less.

So, which one is better? Depends on how or what you define or consider better. As a corporation, Canon appears to be on a firmer foundation than Nikon. Nikon's leading edge commercial products appear to be slightly ahead of Canon. Canon has some really amazing stuff in the future pipeline. It really boils down to what each consumer likes and the end results. Just because any UHH member says one is better than the other doesn't make it so and doesn't mean it's time for verbal war defending anyone's purchase choices. Obviously since I own Canon, Canon is better. But wait, I also own Nikon.

I MUST DISAGREE!!! Even when helpful they should be entertaining. One thing that working with political types for over 30 years has taught me, it must always be entertaining!

At the risk of sounding pedantic, is "pedantic" the plural form as well as singular?

To continue in the same vein: pedantic is an adjective; the corresponding noun is pedant (with a regular plural, pedants).
