I don't find these types of subjects to be click bait. It is an invitation to an open ended discussion. While I have read and watched hours upon hours of tutorials attempting to learn this great hobby I don't have years of experience. Knowledge is important but just as important is understanding how and when to apply that knowledge and that comes with experience. I don't want to just read some chart for the idea settings in a given situation. That does not involve learning or using critical thinking skills. I want to hear from others with experience and understand why they made the choices they did.

Your snarky response is what elicits emotional responses and causes beginners and less experienced amateurs to hesitate in joining a discussion for fear of being ridiculed or talked down to. While I am a relative beginner I am not shy or intimidated. I don't mind saying at all that I don't care for your attitude or response.

Peace be with you.

I didn't see Thomas' reply as snarky. He is a pro who has been doing this for a living for a long time. I think he just meant that this seems to be one of those posts that's meant to see how many responses one can get. Nothing wrong with that. If you ask a question that gets a lot of responses that means it's something that strikes a chord with a lot of people. I've always been interested in Thomas' thoughtful and knowledgeable posts and I hope he doesn't get disgusted by people flaming him and leave. Maybe you should lighten up. Linda is a tough gal, I've seen her take some really rude shots before and she can take whatever Thomas dishes out.

The problem is that you are asking us for a link to the website you quoted from.

Only you mention the Steve Perry from Ontario and quoted from his bio, "I've been involved in photography for the last six years".

The Steve Perry we all know is at BackcountryGallery.com. That's 2 different people in 2 different countries.

I'm guessing you didn't search the user list like I suggested. That would have verified what I already told you, that he is from Ohio. You asked for substantiation and it was there all the time.

Baloney.

Linda referred to a photographer named "Steve Perry".
I simply want to know which Steve Perry she means.

Obviously, she has seen his work somewhere: she refers to it.
So I'd like to know where, so that I too, may see his work.

Failing that, she simply can provide any identifying information that
let's me know which "Steve Perry" she means. If she doesn't know
which Steve Perry---or if she made it up--she should admit that.

How about a straight answer, for a change?

I have to say, Bipod, you have taken this thread to a level of absurdity I have never seen on UHH, and believe me, the bar is pretty low for absurdity around here. Go back to page 8 and look at the first reply I made to you. Therein you will find the link to Steve Perry's website and his article on auto-ISO.

He is also a member of UHH. Click this link if you care:

Now please, please go away.

OK, so it was the Backcountry Gallery guy --- which was my conclusion.
The link is very helpful, thanks.

Sure would have been easier if Bill_de hadn't jumped in to cause trouble.

By the double-barrelled jumping jiminetty, what will it take to get you both to just shut up? I've already ruined two pairs of expensive shoes wading through this testosterone sludge.
