My wife is a lighthouse fan Soooo! We are planning a tip down the Oregon coast in early May (some are not open until April)
I just hope the photos I take then will be a good as yours.

Your images will be stunning if the scenery captures your heart as it did mine, photogeneralist! (BTW, if you would like any suggestions/reviews on places to stay, feel free to send me a PM.)

Beautiful series. I especially love #2. It looks like a pastel or a watercolor.

Thanks you for dropping in to take a closer look, Mark! And thanks for letting me know your thoughts on #2. I have been thinking of entering that one in a contest this spring, and your feedback reinforces that choice.

Been up and down the Oregon coast many times and the Bandon area is my favorite. You have captured it well!

Thanks so much, Linda, for the compliment! I had only been through Bandon on two occasions briefly and took advantage of making it our stayover location both going down and coming back up the coast, this time so I could more fully explore...so glad I did.

GreyOwl, if you knew how frustrated I used to get in the early days of travel if I didn't have blue skies, you wouldn't believe these were my photos. I have come to embrace the fogs and dramatic clouds that are an inevitable part of weeks long journeys. But it took about 10 years to realize the subtle beauty in those softened backgrounds. I'm a slow learner.

Diane, If that is indeed the case, then I can only add that you mastered the process exceptionally well!

We reached Bandon on the return northward just in time to capture Face Rock silhouetted against the sunset, then witnessed a lovely daybreak next morning before setting out for Shore Acres. The fogs and winds at Bandon are quite erratic, so the wonderfully timed openings in the fog were quite serendipitous. That's when you believe for every dark cloud there's a silver lining. The serendipity continued at Shore Acres with heavy fogs rolling through. However, the fogs here added a haunting quality to the rocks and breaking waves which I rather liked.

Thank you, Jack. This was the first time at Shore Acres' shoreline--previously I had only been in the garden--so it was all new to me and I could only shake my head and wonder how I missed such a great photo op before.

Thanks, DJ--I could have used another few days along this stretch of coast, there were so many possibilities!
