Thanks silverhawk. I sense "the faith is strong" in you.

Wonder whether the same can be said about Santa Claus and the tooth fairy?

Size and time seem to be relative.
..…………………..
I remember seeing this theory in a comic book back in the 50s.
IMO plausible.

You mean the movie Space Balls wasn't a documentary!

All this nonsense about UFOs is fun to think about, but really is meaningless. There is little doubt that life exists elsewhere in the universe - after all, the universe is a damned big place with more planets than your puny human minds can imagine! And 'twould seem life can be created from nothing without the need to invoke a guy in a robe upstairs - the right bunch of chemicals and maybe a bit of electrical zapping and voila!

That said, the odds of some intelligent life from another planet has visited here are vanishingly small - again, your puny human minds are virtually incapable of imagining the sheer distances involved. And warp drive and wormhole ridiculosity aside, there just ain't no way to go that far in any meaningful period of time. To traverse space for hundreds or thousands of years would imply the intrepid adventurous astronauts would have to be aboard a ship that holds a large number of them such that they could reproduce. So, yeah, maybe the moon is in actuality a spaceship filled with aliens who observe from above wile fooling us hairless monkeys that it's just a big dead rock up there.
Um, no.

Watching the Ancient Alien show on TV amuses me - the way they speak of these structures and the likelihood of alien "gods" having been on earth 12000 years ago, claiming these folks somehow colonized the planet or some such nonsense - yet never explaining why, for instance, the DNA in humans is 99% the same as chimps, and indeed the same DNA structure as all life on earth. Did these intelligent advanced from-way-out-there beings somehow start the process 3 billion years ago and keep returning to tweak the formula? Never mind how everything they purportedly built has utterly disappeared (unless of course they are storing it all in the hollow center of the moon). In other words, if you really think about it none of it makes sense.

The god myth is lovely, certainly a comforting thought to primates in the past where tides and plagues and earthquakes and hungry predator animals needed explaining. And religion as a way to keep people in line was the genius move - once agriculture was invented 10000 or so years ago humans shifted from being hunter-gatherers maintaining tribe sizes of 150 at most to having to plant roots (pun intended) and then caring for and protecting the farm, etc. - all of which led to cities numbering in the thousands. That's far more people than the human mind can maintain at once, so while in a tribe everyone knew everyone else's business and thus could keep order, in large cities the urge to do bad needed to be curbed by the threat of the man upstairs zapping you.

Again, the concept of interstellar travel is so implausible given the distances involved that while UFOs may well not be identified, they ain't little green men (or pulsating globules of plasma) from 'out there.

Couple of things here Largobob, faith is best rendered as trust, not blind faith which I think you are implying, and trust is based on evidence. Equating belief in God with the Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause is a category error, there is zero evidence for the the later but plenty for the former.

There is a scientific theory that 'life' was kick started by comet strikes. Another suggests that viruses and bacteria could have originally come from space via meteorites and comet trails.

Maybe we are 'the aliens'?

The state of Texas recognizes that an alien from space is buried in Aurora. Texas. I did a photo story on it a few years back. Some of the photos have been used multiple times including a children's school book, The Thirteen Scariest Places on Earth. Just look up Aurora, Texas.

What thing( for a better word) would want to come to earth when humans are killing each other over none and doing by the thousands. Keep away from earth.

Thank you, taffthetooth, for your thoughtful, civilized response to my intended sarcastic comment. I do value those who hold their faith dear. I just don't share it at this time.

I am a science guy. I believe in collected/measured data under controlled conditions. Nuff said.

And BTW: Back to the topic of UFO's.....I have always enjoyed SciFi from the days of Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone"....to the "Outer Limits" and many others. (Do not try to adjust your set. Will control the horizontal and the vertical...)

Biggest problem today is that there are those who would wish to "control our sets.".....force their beliefs (social, economic, political, religious, etc) on everyone.
