If you were burgled or had a fire and all your gear was gone (and let’s assume insured), what gear would you buy to replace it? Assume that you have no bodies, lenses, flashes or other items that would tie you to a brand.

Generally, what do you currently shoot? What would you buy?

My main body is a Nikon D500 with plenty of good glass and a F100 that shares the glass. I also have a Mamiya M645 and a Fuji X-T2. If all that were to evaporate, I would:

Replace the X-T2 with the X-T3, my current 2 travel lenses and probably the 50/1.2 and one of the longer lenses. To replace my MF & D500, I would go with one of the two Fuji MF 50MP bodies currently on the market.

Not sure what I would do for film, but it would probably be a Hassy.

I would replace my D3400 and D50 with a D7500 or D500. Either one would be OK with 2 DX lenses to replace what I have. 18-300 and 16-80 would be good. Would pick up another Nikon Coolpix. Wouldn’t replace the film cameras with anything other than digital. They’re just collectors items to me more than anyone else.

i would definitely go MEDIUM FORMAT!

Changed my mind. I'm going with an original 11x14 Deardorff, with a
wooden tripod strong enough to hold up a SmartCar.

I have a D90, older tokina 80-200 2.8 and older tamron 200-400. I would replace them with a D750 with 24-120 kit and anikon 70-200 f4

I'd look more seriously into the mirrorless market, as I shoot canon, 77d, 70-200 2.8mii, 100mm l, 24-70 2.8mii, 16-35 f4, I'm too invested. Waiting to see what comes after the eos r.

All my gear was stolen. It was covered by my Hartford home owner insurance. I submitted $2500 and they settled for $2900 minus $500 deductible so I was happy. Replaced my 7100,35mm, 85mm, with 7200 18-140mm, Sigma 17-50 and Tokina 11-16.

Good to hear that you were helpful covered. Gives some of us an idea who we might want to insure with.

I have an 80D and 4 lenses and what I have fits my needs. I resisted the move from a bridge camera to a DSLR primarily due to weight and bulk, especially a 300+mm telephoto, so the crop sensor works best for me, especially when I'm walking all around a race track like Laguna Seca or Sears Point. I also know how to use it reasonably well. I'd buy the same thing to replace it.
