We used to get over 100 kids on Halloween. Last night only 18 came to the house. I got to eat all the leftover candy!

How many did you get?

We had maybe 20; most of them girls who looked to be at least 14-15 years old.
Strange times.

I can't say how many but it was less than usual. We live in a fairly large townhouse community and it was not uncommon for people to drop their kids off at one end and pick them up at the other. I also noticed an increase in little kids, pre schoolers and a decrease in older kids, high schoolers. I also noticed there were more store bought costumes this year and the home made ones were mostly a lot more creative.
We did a good job of enforcing the one piece of candy per person policy but there were a few that had to take more. Of course if you left it up to the kids, they'd take a hand full. I blame it on parenting, or the lack of.
We started with a large, larger than your regular salad bowl, Hello Kitty bowl, ladened with over 200 pieces of Hershey candy. At the end of trick or treating there were maybe 40 pieces of malt balls and little else left. Never had to crack open the backup bag of candy.
Well, I happen to like the malt balls and the other bag will go towards Christmas stocking stuffers and the candy dish. As much as I love candy, being diabetic keeps me from pigging out on the leftovers.
Odd thing though, we saw lots of people on the other side of the street that didn't come down our side and about a third of the houses on our block were dark. Must be a lot of grumpy cheap old people I don't know about. Oh well, until next year.
Today was my father's birthday.

We actually had less of the 14-15 year olds this year, and unlike in past years, the tweens were dressed far more age appropriate than past years. For a few years it was vogue for the tweens to dress the part of teenage hookers. I'm glad that fashion trend is over at Halloween.

Just two, along with their father and grandmother. In the 50's we used to go out on three nights; Halloween, night before and the night after. We got some "Halloween is over" and "Quit comin' here" but nobody really got mad. One year I carried two pillow cases; one for me and one for Joey who had the mumps. Almost everyone dropped candy in for Joey. I ended up at Joe's at 9:00 and his mother said I couldn't see him because I might catch the mumps. I told her my mom sent me over to catch them! I gave Joey his bag and we swapped goodies until his mom made me leave. Joe sure was a great buddy.

Several proud teen-age hookers came by a couple of years ago. I was inappropriately amused, but speechless.
The girls that came by last night were all very respectful.

We had 3 carloads of trick-or-treaters, thanks to dysfunction in the neighborhood and a strong thunderstorm last night.

The HOA had declared that last Saturday night would be trick-or-treat night as that would be better than doing it on a weekday night. But they did a haphazard job of organizing that, so many of us decided to also offer candy last night.

Three families, us included, sat in the driveway, under the porte-cochère visiting and enjoying adult beverages with plenty of candy for the trick-or-treaters. Several other families in the neighborhood had similar set-ups and a list had gone out via social media of where such was to be found.

As we sat there, the storm got stronger, with wind, rain, thunder and lightning. Eventually we went inside and continued the party. A good time was had by all.

We have lots of leftover candy. I think the plan is to donate it to a group who are putting together packages for the overseas troops.

We had approx 120 kids.....give or take.

The "best" costume award goes to the FAMILY that dressed up as the Incredibles.
Mom, Dad, son, daughter and baby.

We had two families in the trick or treat brigade that were dressed as the Incredibles. The costumes were pretty good.
Quite a few were dressed as various morning cartoon characters, most of which the wife recognized and I didn't have a clue. She use to babysit grand kids but not anymore. Something about, their parents can afford booze and cigarettes but they can't afford to reimburse use for the cost of feeding the grand kids breakfast and lunch five days a week, plus all the other expenses including damage to our home and belongings. Sorry, it got away from me. There were some really creative costumes.

None (that I know of). My Wife had gone off babysitting for my Daughter, I had unplugged the door chime, turned off the Hall and outside light, muted the Television and had my headphones on!
