Why does RAW take longer to cook?

I wouldn't know for sure. I guess that the processor is fast enough to cook the RAW and makes JPEG at reasonable speed but when it try to put the big RAW in the fridge it ran into some source of traffic. For JPEG fine I can shoot about 3 frames before it slows down but for RAW after every shot it took about 30 seconds to write the RAW file to card.

Maybe because a JPEG is ≈6 Meg and RAWs are ≈20 meg?

While my go-to camera is relatively new, I still use my T2i which works quite well. While newer, I also occasionally use my SX50HS.

Sometimes I have to stand up to see if it hits me the next time around the room.

My newest camera is the EM-1 1.0, and I still use Nikons D300s and DX2.
I’ve got no complaints.
Anyone else out there using older kit? Not film, doesn’t count.
I'm using 5D M II (over 10 years old)!

I use a D90 (bought in 2008), giving serious thought to up-grading for better low-lightperformance

does a 1900s Gundlach Korona count? How about a 1947 Pacemaker spped graphic?

NO! The OP said "not film doesn't count"

I still have my 5000, still works, albeit slowly

I envy you. I had two Coolpix 5000, and with both of them, the CCD (? ) sensor eventually failed.

In other words, they were broke and I could not fix them/get them fixed.

Mine still works fine. The CP 5000 was introduced in 2001 and I liked it but didn't want to spend $1000 for it. I went to the store and checked it out from time to time but never bought it. In 2004 I bought the same demo camera that I've looking at for $200.

Enjoy your em1. While I now shoot with the II version of it, I still think it’s a great little camera. What lenses are you shooting with it. I recommend the 12-40 and 75

Nothing wrong with either one. Enjoy yourself and keep on shooting until the end.
PS. I remember when the D300 came out, it was a big jump forward for Nikon at the time.

Still have, and occasionally shoot with my D200. She still performs well.

I use three 4/3’s lenses, 12-60 f2.8, 50-200 f2.8 and Leica 14-50.
