D810 problem

The wife's D810 is acting strangely. In Continuous High it is only taking 2 frames in a burst...and it its changing settings by itself. We shoot in manual. Her shutter speed can change from like 400 to 1250...and the f stop will go from f/8 to like f/22. She is insistent that her fingers are not anywhere near the control dials in her grip. The camera probably has a shutter count of 160,000... ideas anyone?

Has she tried removing the battery for several minutes? Also, has she tried a reset to default settings? It may be time to contact Nikon if neither of those solve the problem. Sorry, but that’s all I’ve got!

I really hope it works. Let us know one way or the other.

I think you should just go ahead and get her a new D850!

It is easy to change those settings inadvertently in Manual with the Command dials. I suggest that you use it for a day a see if the changes occur.

My first thoughts was accidently hitting the dials. I have read that having the long exposure noise reduction on reduces the frame rate in continuous shooting. Also there are settings that adjust the frame rate in continuous low ( CL ) & possibly the CH mode also. Good luck.

That's the only sensible course of action. : )

When my uncle's TV malfunctioned, he'd remove all the tubes, put them in a bag, and go to the TV store and buy new ones. Worked every time.

First, two button reset to default settings on the D810. Then go to the manual on number of images in a burst. Then call Nikon.

OMG! You just brought back memories of my dad trying to figure out which tube had gone bad in the TV. He’d test one after the other. If memory serves, he had a “tube tester” thing-a-ma-gig in the basement. Could be a very slow process - at least for a kid waiting to watch TV. I like your dad’s approach better. Seems as though it’d be much faster than what my dad did. Thanks for bringing Dad back for a bit this AM!

Haha , Me too. My dad would go to a store called Two Guys which had the tube tester.

Two Guys from Harrison, by any chance? More memories from my youth. You’re on a roll this AM!

We’d better stop now. We are rudely hijacking this thread.
