With every post, I'm happier that I chose to be a chicken-liver and not install either the 2018 update or the 2019 update. Call me chicken ("bawk, bawk-bawk") but the 2017 version keeps on working fine for me and my Nik supported workflow. Good luck, all you brave souls.

Don't know if this helps, but here is additional general info from Tim Grey's daily question from 28 sept 2018
"Today's Question
I have the original Nik Collection purchased years ago. Now that DxO owns it, can I still use it and can I get updates?
Tim's Quick Answer:
You can continue to use the older version of the Nik Collection for as long as it continues to function with your operating system and software configuration. However, you will not be able to receive updates unless you purchase the updated version from DxO Software.
More Detail:
Before going any further, I feel it is important to warn against a potential problem if you choose to install the free trial of the Nik Collection by DxO Software. As noted above, the Nik Collection had previously been owned by Google, but is now owned by DxO Software. Google originally offered the software for sale, and then made it free. DxO Software now offers an updated version of the Nik Collection for sale. However, if you install the free trial version of the Nik Collection by DxO Software, it will cause any earlier versions you may have paid for or obtained for free to no longer function. That, in turn, would mean you would need to purchase a new license from DxO Software in order to continue using the software you already had access to.

In addition, the older versions of the Nik Collection will not be updated by Google. Therefore, the only option for receiving updates is to purchase a license from DxO Software for their updated version of the Nik Collection.

As long as you don't install the trial version of the Nik Collection from DxO Software, you can certainly continue using an earlier version of the Nik Collection. Keep in mind that software updates to your operating system or host applications (such as Photoshop or Lightroom) may cause some or all of the plug-ins to stop working properly. I've still been able to make use of the older versions of the plug-ins with my current configuration, but I have received reports from photographers who are no longer able to use the older Nik Collection plug-ins with their software configuration.

So, you may be able to make use of older versions of the Nik Collection for the time being, but at some point you may need to purchase a new copy from DxO Software if you want to continue using these tools.

That's what happened to me today. After downloading the trial version a few days ago (which didn't function properly, Vivesa didn't work), I tried to purchase it today. However, my Master Card rejected the purchase because it involved an "international" transaction. That may have been fortunate because the only thing in that entire suite that I used was Vivesa's Structure. I'm going to try to find some other software that has a function similar to the Vivesa Structure. Please no one suggest ACR Clarity because Vivesa Structure is something different altogether. I saw something earlier on UHH that makes me think the Vivesa problem could be with my old graphics card.

Thanks - This works :)

I saved the full installer program from when it was a free app. I ran the installer and it put the NIK collection back in the Photoshop filters menu.

Another option is to locate the NIK setup file in your downloads folder and reinstall. I store all my downloads on one of my internal data drives.

Hello .. I just downloaded the trial version of Elements 2019 .. I have been using Elements 11 and installed the NIK collection (when it was free) and it is listed in the Filters menu. I tried running the NIK setup file from the downloads folder (2016) and got an error ... "Can't initialize plugins directory. Try again later." .. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have not uninstalled Elements 11 . Thanks

I have PSCC 2019 and Elements 2011. NIK filters work in both programs. I think you should try my offer for downloading from my Dropbox. Other "UHHers" have also downloaded NIK from my Dropbox.

Hi there .. saw the offer to download from Dropbox. Given all the internet security issues now-a-days I'm somewhat reluctant - nothing personal and don't mean any offense.
Here is the version I tried to run nikcollection-full-1.2.11.exe .. I got it in 2016. I'm using Windows 7 Professional

Thanks,
Sue
