Spent three nights in Stirling on arrival of our trip to Scotland. The city of Stirling is overlooked by the castle high on a hill.
Not sure exactly how old it is, but it predates Columbus' trip to N. American by a few hundred years.

From the internet: "Before the union with England, Stirling Castle was one of the most used of the many Scottish royal residences, very much a palace as well as a fortress. Several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned at Stirling, including Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1542, and others were born or died there."

Very nice! We made three port calls in Scotland on a cruise in July and would like to go back.

We enjoyed our Scotland trip. Were there for around 10 days. Might go back some day.

Those old castles are probably cold, damp and dank.
They had castles, but we have electricity and comfortable houses. (Also indoor plumbing!)
