Actually born and raised in the Motor City and the afore mentioned prank was usually used to screw with people within our circle of friends. It didn't harm anyone and most of the time the "victim" realized what was going on with the car. By the way we called it spudding.

As for your comments on the gene pool in WV I bet you believe that all WV citizens have on leg longer than the from walking around the beautiful mountains that we happen to inhabit.

So let me be the first to extend to you an invitation to come to our beautiful state. I'm willing to give a personal tour of some of the most photographed sites. Be sure to bring your camera and gear, after all aren't we all just photographers interested recording our nation's beauty and wonder.

I was in the Marines with a buddy that grew up in West By God Virginia. I have been to WV. When you think you are a "victim" because someone takes two parking spaces you are in trouble. I would, given the state of affairs in Detroit I would keep that on the QT.

Always keep a tire valve remover handy.
Let the air out of two tires on opposite corners of the car.
Leave the tire valves under the windshield wipers.
Why two tires? Do people usually have two spares?

No. Just like your lack of intelligence.

Personally I don't think of myself as a victim if someone is taking up two parking places. I just see someone who is being inconsiderate to his fellow human beings. I just look for another spot
As for the state of affairs in Detroit right now I don't understand. Why should I,as you say keep it on the QT? If we were to meet and the subject of our birthplaces came up in conversation I use that information to learn more about you and what your experiences were growing up in a different area of the country.

I left Detroit over 40 years ago after my Dad passed away. My mother had seven children, four being under the age ten. She grew up in WV and her family is here. Being the oldest (I was twenty at the time) I moved with her to help with my siblings. We were all welcomed by the community and no one said anything unkind when they found out were I was born. On the contrary the fact that I was from Detroit actually helped me to assimilate quickly and make new friends. I am proud of where I came from and just as proud to be living in WV.

PS. Invitation still out for you.

I was raised in Detroit, but left there in 1960. The city had not fallen so far by then, and I'm not ashamed of my roots--perhaps he isn't either.

You must have left before the riots in 67. Where did you live? Myself I lived in the Jefferson Chalmers area down by the river.

As a small child we lived on Chalfonte, in SW Detroit. During grade school through college (Wayne University) we lived in the NW section of the city, 2 places near Puritan (5 1/2 mile) and up near 8 Mile and Southfield. I attended Mumford High and WSU before entering USAF as a 2Lt.

It is nice to meet a fellow Detroiter here on the Hog. I attended my parish school and after that De La Salle Collegiate across from Detroit city airport. Then attended the Ford Factory school for for mechanics . Then worked at McDonald Ford by Mack and Cadieux before relocating to WV. Very familiar with the areas you lived.

I have a restored '69 Jaguar XKE that I drive on occasion. One day, I decided to stop at a local supermarket to pick up a few items. I parked as far away from the store as possible....away from everything. When I came out, some idiot had parked so close beside me that I couldn't open my door. That car, and my car were the only two vehicles in that part of the lot. To this day, I have no idea why.

I have an '89 Jag XJS coupe and I do the same thing and the same thing invariably happens to me, even have soda and stuff thrown on it, why I've never figured out!!

There are some people who feel that if someone has something they cannot afford it is their right to punish them for their perceived arrogance of flaunting it. Never mind if their perception is true or not. Never mind if it is legal or not. If you were less careful the way you park, it might not happen, but probably still would. It is jealousy coupled with resentment. People with less exotic cars, but expensive when new, sometimes have the same problem.
