Many well-intentioned drivers around here have started the practice of stopping at red lights about 30' behind the car in front of them. That often effectively blocks people from entering a left-turn lane and can cause them to wait for an entire cycle of red/green lights before they can procede.

I think I know well what you are talking about in that "30' behind
the car in front of them" comment. When I complained about that
one day, a younger passenger in my vehicle said that they were
taught in driver's ed that that is the thing to do; ie, stop far enough
back so you can see the rear tires of the car in front of you touching
the road. My return comment was that that does make a bit of good
sense, but then you can slowly move forward and leave room for the
vehicles coming in behind you, and allow more vehicles to get through
the light.

Years ago my sister was stopped at a light and her car died, she was trying to restart it, and the guy behind her was exercising his horn. She walked back to his car and told him maybe he could start her car and she would be more than happy to sit in his and work the horn.

You either are or you aren't, since this doesn't seem to fade away.

I think I know well what you are talking about in ... (show quote)

In a former life I taught driver education and that is exactly what we told our students. I don't know where this 30' space idea came from.

So why the claim - If you don't agree with me you're not Christian.
I'm done. Will not further hijack the post.

What claim? All I said was that as a Christian I didn't find the joke funny. So what? Then you and friends went ballistic on me.

Many Christians disagree with me about many things. Theologically as well as politically. However there are certain theological basics that are core to our beliefs. The Trinity, the deity of Christ, salvation by faith alone.

Come on, guys. Nobody signed up to argue religion.
I think it's time to unwatch this topic.
See you some other time.

You should've done it 2 1/2 pages ago.

I was riding with friend on the the main road going into the city. Every light we stopped at the car behind us would lean on the horn as soon as the light changed. My friend has a short fuse and I knew this would set him off. The next light the same thing. He didn't move. He got out of the car and walked back, I hoped he wouldn't start a fight. He just reached in and took the guys keys out and threw thrm across the four lane highway. He told the guy, now lets see how you like it.

Unfortunately, in some areas, that is the way to get shot.
