Even in my youth, with the six handicap, I could not hit a drive 300 yards, let alone a fairway wood. Why weren’t you on the tour?
I had one double eagle, once in my life. A par five, 500 yards, 260 yard drive and a 240 yard 3 wood into the hole, slightlydownwibd. All the witnesses in the world in a member-guest. Still tied the hole with a 29 handicapper who birdied it with 2 strokes on the hole.

If I finished a round with more balls than I started with it was a good day. Guess you can tell I was not a great duffer but I always got that one shot that kept me coming back year after year.
