The problem I have with Apple is that you take your computer in to the store and have it analyzed and sent off to be fixed. You get charged up front by the person doing the analysis and not based on the actual work performed.

Sad but true. It's all about greed. Apple made $53 billion in profits last year, but they want to make more. "profit - noun - 1. a financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something." Profit is basically excess money.

The mass air flow sensor in my Honda Fit went bad, so I bought one from AdvanceAuto for $76. It didn't work. A mechanic told me that for electronic parts, I should buy from the dealer. The Honda part cost me $268, but it works. If I want a replacement key for my Honda Fit, it will cost me about $350. Remember when you go to a hardware store and have a key made for $0.50? Honda no longer makes service manuals available for their cars. I've owned these manuals for every car I've owned since 1962, but if there is no manual available, owners will tend to go to the dealer more often.

I wonder why laws are skewed toward businesses. Yeah, that's a real mystery.

It would really be worth the time to watch this video with the sound turned on. I am not saying Apple is the only one guilty of this practice, but I will say They are probably one of the worst offenders brought on because of competition. HP and Dell that I know of because of personal experience are also offenders of this practice. Better watch it; I'm just sayin! It might save You a lot of money for some more GAS.

And that is exactly why I don't buy Apple products, aside from the fact that they are way too expensive, as is Apple's close competitor, Samsung. I am quite happy with my $80 ZTE. It does everything I require of it.

Oh...you must be referring to folks who choose to buy an Apple product rather than an Android product...for a second there I thought you were insulting folks just because they don't prefer your choice of phone...that would be ignorant and I'm sure that wasn't what you meant.

Well, I wasn't going to respond to any of the response's to the original post, but I think You missed the purpose of My original post. The reason for the post was the cost of unnecessary service that is put on the consumer.

I don't think the other responder was referring to a preference for Apple products. To Me it looks like all those folks in line the night before look like They think They are buying a new medicine that is going to prevent and/or cure every illness in the world now and in the future and there is a very limited supply. Like a bunch of Lemmings!

I think they're in line in order to show off to other Apple fanboys that they got the newest toy and didn't have to wait for it to come in the mail. I own only three things by Apple, an iPhone X (for its camera and third party photo software), a router (for reliability and ease of setup) and Apple TV (because it works best with DirecTv Now). My computers are either custom built or by Dell.

Cell phones, even $1000 iPhones, are commodities. No manufacturer is interested in making it easy to repair and upgrade, they want to move more boxes through the distribution and retail pipelines. That is the reality.

It's honestly no different than the Samsung clothes washer I had to scrap because cost of repairs was 1/3rd greater than the cost of a replacement unit. The days of that 1970 Sears Coldspot Freezer in your garage are long gone. The one I had lasted 40 years before it quit. Cannot duplicate that today.

I'll rubberstamp that, my wife and stepson change their phones, video, etc. like they change their clothes; oh, but this one is better, the old one can't be fixed, new ones aren't THAT expensive!!
