I have had good results with UPSTART Batteries. The batteries had the same chips as the OEM, some had higher actual watt hours and lasted longer than OEM. I have used the Canon, Sony and Panasonic imitations.

Go for the Walmart batteries and as someone else mentioned, get the extended warranty. If you have problems your still not out much and chances are good that you will be very satisfied. $100.00 for the OEM batteries is more than I'd pay and I'm amazed at how brand loyal most photographers seem to be and that many seem to not even care what something costs (some of us have to watch every penny). While I have not used this particular third party brand, I've used many others and have yet to have a problem with any of them. Good luck and good shooting to all.

When I need batteries, I go to Amazon and get that two-batteries-with-charger deal. Never a problem after using them on many cameras. I bet the one you saw has a charging plug to use it in a car.

I don't want to upset anyone who loves Walmart, but keep in mind that experience by many of my Walmart friends have shown that, except for food (perhaps), all their regular stock is designed "second grade". That includes TVs, vacuum cleaners, and many more electronic and electric devices. They are so large, than can tell Samsung (for example) how to design a TV to make it cheaper, and using smaller power supplies is not a problem, for Walmart. And that is a sample of how they can "save you money". I'm confident I'm going to get a lot of 'static' from my fellow UHH members, but facts are facts.

According to a pro I know, other batteries and chargers will work BUT the batteries won't hold their charge for as long as the OEM. That said, I used off brand batteries with my Nikon charger and had no problem. How's that for a non-answer answer!;0)

Nikon does not manufacture batteries... the Nikon badged battery is made by a major quality battery manufacturer. I’d guess Sony. The production is process controlled and large batches are statically sampled to determine the performance of the batch against the specifications. This grading determines the value, price and distribution channel of the batch as a batch... they are not 100% tested, unless the channel requires that very pricy step, like space or military application might.
Inside the statistically sampled batch, are batteries that conform to Nikon OEM Specs... this is how some off brand second tier batteries provide great service while the overwhelming majority do not and disappoint or worse.
You get what you pay for but... you might get lucky! I never do I just buy the Nikon OEM.

Yes the $22 is too low for 2 batteries and I feel can't trust them. In the other hand the $100 for genuine Nikon battery and charger is reasonable but it's kind of a pain when if the OP were to sell the camera with battery and charger he couldn't get much over $200.

Originally used a Canon 5DII to shoot video and stills, and now use GH5's. I've also shot with Sony. I've logged thousands of hours of video, and quite a few stills over the years. I've also shot with various Sony still and video cameras. I've quite a few brands of clone batteries, and none of them match OEM. Some come close, but they all fall short in capacity. They also vary more between copies than OEM. There is a reason that they are so much cheaper.
That said, a couple of cheap batteries are just fine for travel and fun.

Someone mentioned the camera with battery and charger for $115 at KEH. Why not buy that? Then you would have an extra camera and the battery and charger.

I have two aftermarket batteries for my K50. I cannot tell the difference between them and the OEM that came with it. Buy the batteries and charger and use the stuffing out of them for a week or two. If they don't seem to work as well as your original take them back and get a refund. There are only so many battery manufacturers out there. I would not be surprised to find you're buying the exact same battery as the Nikon, you're just not paying the premium for the Nikon decal.

I used the company out of La Punte California. They're great. Reasonable and fast delivery. Never had a problem with their products. Use their batteries in my D800e all the time. Find them on eBay.

I have used non-OEM batteries with no problem. But a quick search on Amazon found NIKON OEM batteries for $25 each and a charger for $23.
