Gary: You are so right. Of course, the hawk was never in any real danger (nonpoisonous snake), but it is interesting to see protective mechanisms like the nictating membrane. I saw a similar protection with terns that had dived and caught little green eels that likewise tried to wrap themselves around the birds' necks to avoid being eaten...also a lost cause, but an interesting sight nonetheless. I went in and looked at most of your postings...great pictures of eagles, hawks and owls as well as the dolphins. Have a great day, and share more of your photos when you get a chance.
