Why on Earth does it have 38 computers? Couldn't they figure out how to do it with less. Reminds me of photos I've seen of desks of leaders in some other countries. The more phones on the desk, the more important they are. My desk only had one phone but it had 20 different lines, all activated by a button.
My car is a $32,000 Chevy, the top of the line of its model. It has stuff that I've yet to use. It even has a 110 volt outlet in it. It has a Bose sound system in it and heated leather seats and steering wheel and heated mirrors and all kinds of sensors and warning devices and safety features and comfort features. And according to the guy at the dealership who's job is to sell additional warranty's, it only has two computers, two. There are lots of sub-processors but only TWO computers. One is the ECM and the other is the main computer that runs everything else in the car. He explained that although these units don't fail too often, they do fail and are rather expensive. The cost of the additional insurance wasn't much so we bought it. Should either unit fail while we own that car, they will be replaced at no out of pocket cost. Did you buy insurance on your 38 computers?

Sorry and I am with you and I do not understand either but I know this car now does things I had never dreamed of. And it does everything but drive itself. It even steers around curves on the highway. Will not let you drift out of your lane. Lets you know if you are not paying attention enough. Take your hands off the steering wheel it beeps at you. Flashes at you when the tank is low, has blind spot detection, back up mirror because newer cars are impossible to see out of. Warning on back if cars are coming from the side. Yes it did cost me $2000 dollar extra for the coverage. Frankly I am amazed at all that it does and am still learning more each day when I drive it. We have owned it for six months. My favorites are the back up mirror and the blind spot detection. Instant detection of speed limit. I am not sure on the 38 computers but that is what I was told. I balked and did not want to buy it but when I was told that I saw no other choice. One computers going out would pay for it. So much for my car selling. It was $35000 out the door, insurance taxes and licenses included.

You know, I used to carry a cup of grease around with me and when someone parked where they made it inconvenient for me to pick up passengers I would get out and grease their door handle. It doesn't take long for them to catch on.

when someone parks like that, a lot of those dents are not accidental.

I Apologize to you and I do not believe that this person is not parking correctly and they are at fault. But I also believe they may be frustrated with what I consider poor parking facilities. I think this person could have made better choices. Now some store and many newer ones seem to have the consumer in mind when they make decisions. What I do not like about Costco is that they have gone the other way on handicapped parking. They just closed down a bunch of regular parking making a mess. But what they have done, as I see it, they had little other choices.
I could have had a handicapped license myself but chose not to because I figured there were people that were worse off than I was and needed it more than I do.
But I also see people that are riding carts in stores that should be walking. Now I know I will be attacked on this one because they will claim that you cannot tell by looking at some one. But there are people that do abuse the systems. My doctor when I see him one of the questions he always asks if I am walking every day. Yes I am. How fast are you walking. More than just a stroll I hope.
Some of the parking spots are too narrow one cannot get the doors open while much of the lot remains unoccupied. That is low mentality and reflects only what the people in the business thinks will increase their sales. But if you add 6 inches to a space and you park 10 spaces away you are only adding 60 inches in distance. That is only two to three steps further and I personally would rather walk the two steps in order to prevent $100 of dollar in car damage. From my visits to most stores most of the handicapped spaces remain unoccupied. And that is a small price to pay to help other out.
But what I think should happen is for those who can walk give them adequate parking let them walk the two more steps and save them car damage.

Here in northeast Pennsylvania, you would be hard pressed to find an available handicapped parking place. More often than not, the vehicles in the handicapped areas are high end priced ones. Too many people in our area get the handicapped parking permit as a "status symbol", a sad commentary on our society.

Yes I know of some that have had parents that have had handicapped permits that they obtained from a parent that was ill and when they passed on they kept it and now use it. In their forties, perfect health. As you say sad. I feel sorry for the people that are truly handicapped. Some of this fraud may be thwarted by now putting a date on those permits.

I do that myself from time to time. I spent $36000 for a new car just to have someone fling a door open and dent my new car. They drive an old jalopy and do not care.
I like to shop at Costco where the parking stalls are wide and I do not have to worry. The only thing on my mind when I park are my doors going to get dinged. My dealer even offers door ding insurance, Sad.
Parking solution: Going to a place to shop and do not like the options so I park on the back forty. Where no one in their right mind would park. All by myself and think I have found the solution. A little extra walk but figure it is worth it. Come back and find I am surrounded by other cars. The rest of the lot is empty but my car must be a car magnet. Go figure.
Just because some paints a line we have to comply. The lines should be to help but not to dictate.

Placards are dated. There's a pretty hefty fine if one gets caught misusing a handicap placard.

Status symbol!? That's a crock of crap. Like I stated earlier, I didn't ask for this. There must be corrupt doctors in that part of PA because one needs a doctor's signoff on the application to get a handicap placard and any decent doctor wouldn't do it.
There was an a-hoe where I use to work who harassed me because I parked in reserve parking near the front door. One day I had enough. At lunchtime I drove home and picked up a photocopy of an x-ray of my leg and foot and my son's high-tech metal detector. I went back to work and went up to the a-hoe, threw the photocopy on his desk and with the metal detector at full volume, passed it over my leg and foot. As the detector whined loudly when it passed over all the hardware in my leg, I angrily told this arrogant person, I DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS, and I'd gladly trade it with you in a heartbeat. I also mentioned harassment and human resources and until the day I retired, never heard a peep out of the a-hoe.

SAD, BUT TRUE., And yes, they have an expiration date that some of the mental midgets will spend hours altering in many ways. One of our group members mentioned that there are hefty fines for the misuse of those blue and white "trophies". Sad to say that police seldom enter the parking lots, let alone write tickets for misusing the blue parking areas. As if all of that were not enough, don't be handicapped when your grandchildren are performing at a school function. All rules of civility go out the window, fire lanes included. Maybe it is only in NEPA, but I assure you that it does exist.

I mentioned part of that. They are first were not dated and are floating around and some are still using them. But thanks for the input.

I see it from time to time where some Redneck in a large pick-up miss parks and parks so close to the line that it is impossible to park next to him without doing damage to your car. So no one parks there and no one says a word. Intentional or not, I see where he made no effort to park between the lines. The only ones that seem to get the complaints are the ones with the sports cars.
