I'm not sure that Canon's EF/IS lenses would be compatible with an IBIS system. Canon would have to find a way to sync the two systems together or you would have to turn off IS on the EF lens to make them work with an IBIS body. I'm not completely sure of the physics but it seems to me the two IS systems would be counter intuitive.

You are of course correct in what you wrote. As far as it goes. With almost all of the major players going to IBIS, in my opinion Canon missed the boat there. The other "guy"also worked on forward and backward compatibility and included IBIS. I think Canon should have too.
