I just wanted to be the first person to entertain a discussion about how terrible the new Canon EOS R is compared to Nikon, Sony and every other mirrorless camera in the world. You know it's coming, so let's jump in!

Actually, from most of the videos I've watched the general consensus is, it's not a bad/terrible camera at all. Sure, there are things that people don't like about it and there are a few missing features that will more than likely be addressed in the future, but, as far as it being a BAD camera, no, just plenty of room for improvement.

Look at it this way, Canon will be the title sponsor at the next winter Olympic games so I'm sure they will come up with something to wow the photography world before then.

A little premature knocking a product that hasn't hit the street yet. Of course folks love to jump on any negatives they can find. I'm sure Mr. Sony will be right there with the OP.

Sad state we have come to.

For the market segment it is designed for, and for the maximum ROI, the EOS R and the Nikon Z's are just fine. Again, cameras are just tools, it is the immiganation behind the viewfinder that makes the difference.

I agree, always some naysayer looking to rattle cages because they believe their brand is the best because they own it.

Like myself, I know people who don't subscribe to one manufacturer. Bottom line is, Canon is the largest and they didn't get there by making junk. I'm sure the scientists and engineers at Canon know what they are doing and know more about the photography industry than a few folks on a social media website.

I think it's a good camera. It looks decent but not outstanding. I think if you want to blame it then it must be the fact that a number of photographers have lost their files due to card failure. Was it because the bad cards or because the camera? How would you know for sure which causes the lost files?

The Nikon and Canon cameras haven't even been released yet.
I think you are just a troll trying to stir to s**t.

So far, the reviews are positive for the Canon R and mediocre for the Zs. Many are hoping they can "fix" the Nikons with firmware before release where it looks like the Canon is ready for prime time.

Iā€™m not sure who the genius was who said no IBIS and no IS in the new zoom.

I feel Canon has not implement IBIS in their interchangeable lenses cameras, yet, because they have such good lens based IS. Now why they didn't put IS in the new 28-70, I'd speculate there are a number of reasons. For one, the lens is a beast. The lens is very fast for a monster and would probably be used with either a fairly fast shutter speed or with a flash. As for the new 50 mm, I don't believe they ever made a stabilized 50 mm lens. The RF 24-105 is meant for video so it needs IS. The RF 35 is ideal for street photography so stabilization is a good thing although over the years they had both stabilized and not stabilized 35 mm lenses.

Maybe Canon will freak us all out by putting a stabilized sensor in the 90D. Don't hold your breath.
