With everybody going GaGa over mirrorless, you may not have too long a wait, Robyn. I can tell you that I love my D850. I sold my D800 and now have the 850 plus a Df and I couldn't be more content.

I thought none of the new FF MILC'S were actually available yet. I for one have no plans to go that route until the technology has stabilized.

Just wait until you can get it used from KEH. (:

I don't know if I'd want a used one. I guess we'll have to see what Nikon brings to photokina this year.

You reminded me of something my father said, way to often

"Strive for perfection to achieve excellence."

I was at the Best Buy in Concordville, I think it's Concordville, Delaware, looking for a shortie tripod for my G1X III and they had a D850 on display. I picked it up and played with it for a few minutes and it felt good. I liked it a lot but realistically, I don't need one I just want one. It really won't give me much of anything I'd use on a daily basis I didn't already have. If I want to deal with enormous image files I'll get out my 5DSr. If I want high-speed bursts I can use my D500. I decided I'll simply wait until it goes on sale for a more reasonable price, then I'll get one for my collection.

Good for you! I would have had trouble getting past "I just want one"!

I have the D850 and love it, but to tell the truth I also love my D810, the only thing I truly love about the D850 over the D810 is the dynamic resolution.

I'm in Montgomery County. I have to say at this point that I can make due with my D500 until there is a D860, as I am shooting very little studio stuff right now. This must be a PA thing.

The only time they might or typically go on sale is when a model comes out to replace it. Then their value drops like a lead balloon. Since the D850 just came out, doubt you will see a new model for at least 2 years probably if then. Nikon may just go the route of the mirrorless camera from here on out.

Could have been but whatever it was it saved me some bucks for now. Maybe someone will get it for me for my birthday.

I ordered one for my birthday a few weeks ago and brought it home last Monday with a couple 'pods and lenses. The bill will be coming due, and um, ouch.

You took a wise decision. You have excellent cameras and in my humble opinion I do not believe you need another camera.
Big difference between I want and I need.

About a year ago I bought a well used D7000 off of Craig's List ... I haven't picked up my D3300 since. Just picked up a used 18-140mm lens from Craig's List to replace the kit lens that came with the D3300 that I have been using with the D7000. Very happy with both purchases. Next up will be either refurbished or used D7200. Someday.

I have the odd GAS attack but typically it results in an upgrade to my lenses. I picked up a Nikkor 20-35, f/2.8 in excellent condition. This lens was produced in the 1993-2001 period. It looks new! It complements my D500 so well! I believe it is all about the eye of the photographer and the glass.

You don't believe he needs another camera.
How kind of you to contribute.
