I wasn't really serious but you're absolutely right. Oddly, the rare times I've experimented with 'auto' I didn't feel in control, the opposite reaction of the makers' goal I think. I have friends that contend one should take advantage of the vast array of innovation, design and research built into the camera. To them, that means point it and shoot it. No thanks.
