Greybeard:

I did some checking; I bought my Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 from Red Tag Camera via eBay
in mid July. The cost was $240 with free shipping; everything about the sale was simply fine.

I just checked, and the best price I could find for the Sigma on Amazon is $308.00

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Red Tag again.

I bought my 77d from Adorama through Amazon.

I paid $649, free shipping and NO tax.
They even threw in some extras including a SD card.

What can anybody tell me about redtagcamera? They have a good buy on a Canon 77D, just want to make sure it is what it seems to be. Don't preach Adorama to me, those schmucks raised the price from 650 to 799 overnight !!

I just did a search on eBay for "redtagcamera" cameras. Each posting clearly states that there is "no" manufacturer's warranty.

Back to the OP's question: I've dealt with Red Tag Camera through Ebay. They sell gray market cameras (hence the lower prices). They delivered what they promised on Ebay; I had no problem with them. I knew I was buying gray market and had no problem with that; I was willing to take the risk. I don't know how it is dealing with them directly (by phone, etc.).

I just found a brand new 77D from a seller in Somerset, New Jersey: $615.34
free shipping and a one year seller warranty.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-77D-DSLR-Camera-Body-Only/192352266358?_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D53365%26meid%3Df8ddd045f5144b979f8e8c9fafdbaf79%26pid%3D100505%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26%26itm%3D192352266358&_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226

There are other offers shipping from overseas.

OK to answer your question. I don't think Red Tag has a store front. They do business via Ebay and Amazon. Personally I wouldn't buy from them. Do what you want I won't preach.

Gray market cameras... Save $100 or more, but if anything goes wrong with it, you'll have to pay for repair.

Red Tag's eBay listing offering 77D for $700 says "Import version" = gray market.

The Amazon listing for $670 says "seller supplied 1 year warranty" = gray market.

EBay listing by 6th Ave. Express offering it for $615 says "Import model w/1 year warranty via US seller" = gray market.

Abes of Maine (horrible reputation & not in Maine ) has 77D for $609 "Warranty: None. 2 year Green Leaf Service Extended Warranty: $79." = gray market.

The good news is that Canon USA will repair gray market items. Or you have the option to take the camera to an independent repairer who might do the work for lower cost, because if needed Canon will sell spare parts to anyone. Either way, in the event of a problem, you'll have to pay for the repair because there's no warranty on "unofficially" imported, gray market cameras. But, at least you can get it repaired.

Or, Canon USA refurbished 77D.... currently in stock and $630 + tax = $680 (free shipping). USA model, officially imported with 1 year warranty.

Thankfully it's Canon gear we're talking about. Nikon USA won't repair gray market items at all. They also won't sell repair parts outside their own small network of "authorized repairers".... approx. 20 shops in the U.S. So if anything goes wrong with a Nikon gray market item, you probably won't be able to get it repaired and might as well junk it. Nikon USA has also started offering refurbished directly online at a discount, but they treat them like used and only offer a 90 day warranty.

But to be fair... warranty claims and repairs are relatively uncommon. Most cameras are pretty dependable.

What you wanna do is avoid "those schmucks" and buy
from lowballers. The yo can come back here crying and
get zero sympathy. I looooove watching hat sorta thing
and I don't know you, so I can throw you under the bus
just for my own amusement ....

I'm just not into gratuitous empathy.

And, everyone knows that Canon Refurbished cameras carry a full one year warranty just like their new ones. I have bought several over recent years and they are always like new.

Regarding 77D pricing, they were 799. or 850. early in the year and went on sale for authorized dealers in May at 649. I bought one from B&H. The sale was supposed to end after Memorial Day but was extended at least twice. The sale finally ended after Labor Day. I noticed prices for many other cameras and lenses also went up. Can't say about Adorama, but B&H always had an end date for sale items on their site though extensions were common. I suspect prices were raised now so that they can have discounts for the holiday season.

The sale on the 77D that had been going on for a while just ended. All authorized Canon dealers raised the price back to $799.00. If you still want to get a great deal, consider the refurbished model which is still selling for $629.00 on the Canon site. Or, you can wait for the next sale. The one at red tag camera is likely to be a grey market unit.

I know that Canon is calling the shots here. But ADORAMA knew, I repeat knew, when that price would change. They could have said "only xxx days left" or something. But they didn't. As I said in my text "don't preach Adorama to me". I will probably buy from the cheapest guy in Hong Kong and take my chances. Screw Adorama and all such "respectable" dealers. Life is a crap shoot anyway, and the bottom line is there are no guarentees!!

I certainly understand your upset but sometimes a sale happens and we miss it. That said, you just seemed to answer your own question and are willing to take a risk. It seems your post is less about a question regarding this non authorized dealer and more about wanting to gripe about Adorama. I am also thinking this because why come to a forum to ask about this seller when you clearly have access to the internet and thus can google to find all the info you would ever need right at your fingertips. Sorry you are smarting over missing a sale. Buy refurbished directly from Canon instead, celebrate your smart buy over a few drinks with friends and forget about your misfortune with Adorama. Life is too short. Cheers🍺

I know about life thanks. I am 75 on Sunday, I survived a year in Vietnam and stage 3 cancer. Losing out on this sale isn't going to kill me. I am not going to commit suicide. You don't have to worry about my life. I will bitch about anyone I want to as well. I will get a 77D one way or another, and I won't pay 800 bucks for it either.

I feel this is the case with this post. More about venting than seeking advise and information.
